Your last two comments Scar are not strictly true. You can chose when you register on the electoral role to have your details only displayed on the private roll which is only used by the council for elections and the courts for jury service etc. not by companies or individuals (unless it is a credit check).

Your point about homeless people is also strictly not true as you can now register without an address can register with a 'declaration of local connection’ basically nominating a homeless shelter etc.

Finally it is technically the legal duty of the householder to register as otherwise it is an offence and you could face a £100+ fine.

    I wouldn't for three reasons:

    1. I don't know enough about any of the parties to choose between them, and have a feeling that it won't make too much difference who's in power out of the 'big guys'.

    2. Anyone can access the electoral roll for a couple of pounds and find out who you are and where you live. I don't like my private data being disclosed in this way.

    3. The electoral process discriminates against those who have no fixed address, thus refusing to represent Travelling communities, the homeless and those who, like me, don't want to put their address into the public eye.
