Are wasted products a neccessary evil of running a business?

• A business needs to turn a profit. If you can't sell a product, it isn't good business to give it away. It's better to destroy it.

• Wasting food or valuable goods is unethical. Businesses should find creative solutions to use their unsellable products to benefit the community that supports them.

• The answer is somewhere in the middle. It depends on the situation and the product. (Please elaborate in the comments section!)
