Do you think we should welcome Tesco to Stokes Croft/Montpelier?

People really need to get over it. I am a resident of Montpelier and I do appreciate the local culture and the unique feel of the Stokes Croft area... but why are people so persitent of keeping Stokes Croft as trampy as they can?! The shops like 24 hr Best over-price all their goods and sell mouldy fruit and veg.. I'd love to be able to buy some decent food locally. Everyone shops at tesco and wears clothes from multi-national companies - it's just LIFE... "oooh no Tesco's is taking over the world because theres going to be one on Cheltham Rd!"
It's like people will find anything to moan about...
I say if people don't agree with it then they don't have to shop there..

Basically, Stokes Croft will always be what it is Tesco or no Tesco if people keep all the beautiful artwork coming.. I just think what's there to be preserved at the moment.... is it the needles and bottles of white lightning lying about?....

"Its not just that a Tesco at Cheltenham Rd will cause traffic congestion, destroy existing local shops. They oversell fat and sugar which cripples our health and the NHS. They control food supply in UK and across the world. Vast amounts of the produce they sell will end up in landfill.
Global Capitalist Corporatism must be opposed and destroyed. UK government is in league with them. Only direct action and civil disobedience can stop them. I feel like breeding rats and letting them loose on their premises."

Local shops sell plenty of fat and sugar as well as the healthy stuff, and Tesco sell the healthy stuff as well as fat and sugar. Tesco do not control the food supply, either in the UK or worldwide. Vast amounts of all produce sold ends up in landfill. It is unfair to single out Tesco for doing this. Global capitalism needs to be adequately regulated. If it is destroyed, as you suggest, we will all starve. If you breed rats and let them loose on Tesco premises, you will seriously endanger public health, and will hopefully be prosecuted for your criminality. You are an idiot, and I hope and trust that the police are watching you closely.

Stokes Croft is and should always be a community area, the arrival of another tesco will invite other large companies to set up there and the road will end up being any other generic high street, it is unique and should stay that way, tesco is an horrific company and should be contested wherever it tries to get its claws into. keep them out of Stokes Croft! we must fight this decision, as a community and individual humans. we do have a voice!
