Why did muzzling the Mystic Falls well mannered vamps work?

• Got me. I mean, they do have supernatural strength, right?

• It must not have - otherwise how were the Salvatore boys turned themselves?

• Something to do with them already being accustomed to outrageously restrictive and binding clothing.

• The townsfolk must have had witch powers on their side to enchant them.

• They were fashioned to first contain the only hinted-at weres in the area.

• It's just a show, and we should really just relax.
