I do not think the church should be too proactive in attempting to collect tithes and/or offerings. This is something that should be up to the individual (between the person and their lord - doing what they feel led to do and for whatever amounts they believe to be appropriate). Further, I think it is perfectly acceptable to periodically remind members that the bible does teach us to be tithers and cheerful givers. If a church wishes to create a method whereby tithes and offerings may be made electronically, then it seems to me that it would be OK to inform members of this available method and to provide instructions as to how it is accomplished. It would bother me if I were to be "reminded" by the pastor or another church representative, that my tithes were overdue. Who knows, I may be tithing elsewhere.
