I grew up on Lafayette Ave. in Maywood in the 50's and 60's, and spent lots of time in the woods, including ice skating on the pond in the winter. We knew every inch of the woods, and had names for various areas. Example - the southeast end of the pond was known as "Snake Paradise". We called the long trail the Indian trail even then. I visited about 20 years ago and found where I had carved my initials on a tree in 1959. So glad it's being preserved!
