You still tweeted 31 tweets last 24 hours...

  • Megan - 14 years ago

Sometimes I look at my feed and all I see are your tweets, so I kind of glance and move on. I feel like if you posted less you'd only post the best and the quality of the posts would go up. People might actually read them if there were less as well. Not a fan of the mass tweets from one person.

    Thanks for the poll!

My twitter has already heavily overloaded !!I hope SM can reduce the tweets number.

  • Gavin - 14 years ago

I agree with what someone previously said about having separate accounts based on categories. Then the tweets will remain super relevent to the people following them.

  • Rana - 14 years ago

Maximum SM tweets are useful, but fixing in number will make it easier to follow.

  • Twocifer - 14 years ago

I'm a bit torn; SM does have some great stuff.... But way too many Tweets per day. I've gotten very good at skimming your Tweets and marking those that interest me as a favorite so I can come back later and read it. But checking my Twitter feed from my phone has lost some of it's convience since I started following SM. One tweet or 4-5 based on a subject would be better.

  • Janet Barclay - 14 years ago

Agree with Mark Rodrigues. Tweets are excellent but only a few topics are of interest to me.

  • Teresa - 14 years ago

One or two of the best per day is good for me. Otherwise, it fills my twitter box and gets lost in the shuffle!

  • carlos - 14 years ago

Could you wrap some of the proposed links into a daily links package or something like that?

  • Stephanie - 14 years ago

Less is more! I prefer a small amount of quality tweets so I can actually read through everything.

  • taufiq BD - 14 years ago

I like to get a lot of links from SmashMag but the think is I can't afford to check every of them if there are more.
but I dont want to miss a single link as every one of them are of high quality. So if the tweet is a little less, it would be fine to check all the articles in a day.

  • Gary Graves - 14 years ago

They are high quality links so I am torn! But there are so many that I can't get to them all. Perhaps subdivide? Design, tech tips, discussion?

  • Ri Zoldak - 14 years ago

I love Gregor's @smhottest suggestion. Your quality is always strong so I don't mind the 26 tweets daily. Breaking your topics into seperate Twitter feeds would be sad. I'm a Jack of all trades and really value SM's comprehensive variety.

  • Bob Vork - 14 years ago

I'm with stefan on this one. 10 should be the max. Recently I find myself just skipping most of the Smashing tweets because there's so many.

  • Philipp Jardas - 14 years ago

I totally support the idea of different channels!

  • stefan - 14 years ago

I think 5-10 is more than enough. Following all your tweets is like listening to a mainstream radio for 24 hours a day. Someday you get rid of it and just stop it. I want to read all your tweets but it's just to much! I would prefer less tweets with higher quality!

  • Frederik - 14 years ago

As many have said quality over quantity. If you keep the quality at the current level, do keep on flooding... but please don't tweet for the sake of it!

  • freddy macwoozy - 14 years ago

nice idea by gregor, you should do that.

  • james - 14 years ago

10 should be the max really. any more and it gets very annoying.
there is lots of good stuff you post about, but people will get tired pretty quickly if you keep posting lots of mediocre stuff.

  • LJohnson - 14 years ago

    The more tweets the better!

why not make a "SM lite" that tweets a daily digest for those who prefer to receive less?

  • Elke - 14 years ago

Love them all, keep them coming.

  • S - 14 years ago

    What mark roderigues said

  • Gregor - 14 years ago

    here is my suggestion:

keep them coming just as you are doing right now. For the people out there that would like to receive less, make an extra @smhottest account that only posts the top 10 or top 5 links that get clicked on the main account.

  • Mario S. Cisneros - 14 years ago

I'm very busy so it's often difficult to find time to constantly remain connected to design community in an effort stay on top of the latest trends and disciplines afforded us Web professionals. The vast majority of tweets you provide are extremely valuable and useful, which I personally really appreciate.

However, I think 10 per day is a reasonable number because as so many other have indicated there's simply not enough time in the day to wade through all of them.

    Luv what you do!

  • Joe - 14 years ago

You said it Marc, people should organize the people they're following into lists if there are too many for them to look though. It isn't hard!

  • Sarah Cox - 14 years ago

quality, not quantity. i don't count your tweets and i personally don't think you should either.

  • dee - 14 years ago

it's terrible to get more then 10 tweets.

  • Joel - 14 years ago

I really enjoy your tweets but there really are too many, I find I automatically start to skim ones from smashing mag when lots are done in a short space of time, the channels idea was good or linking to a post. I'd say at least halving them would help increase the impact.

  • oknechirik - 14 years ago

One useful tweet is more than enough

  • Marc Friederich - 14 years ago

Since you have list in Twitter we can organise and so valuable tweets smashingmag is providing we'll happy to have more more and more :-)

  • Koen - 14 years ago

I agree with Mark Rodrigues. Why not make a bunch of different Twitter accounts. One for each tag you use on the website. And one for ALL the tags together.

I feel the number of tweets today is (personal for me) too much. With the idea above you give your followers a choice.
(Isn't that what social media is all about?)

  • Dermatologia - 14 years ago

Too much tweets are annoying AND difficult to follow. Who has time to read everything? Select and tweet only very important stories and links. I see that more than 50% of voters ask for no more than 10 tweets a day (which is still a lot imho).

  • Philippe Alves - 14 years ago

Sometimes SlodiveOnline tweets the same thing as you do... but yea, not always.

  • Neeraj - 14 years ago

love your tweets and links it makes our life way easier

  • clifico - 14 years ago

For me quality is much more important than quantity, too many tweets from someone and I generally just stop reading them.

  • Kevin Sants - 14 years ago

I would like to see no more double-tweets to get attention for a post.

  • Morten Vium - 14 years ago

I really appreciate your efforts on Twitter. I find relevant quality articles every day this way but I also find some of your tweets irrelevant for me personally. If you can limit yourselves to 15 high quality tweets a day that would be absolutely perfect.

Thank you for a great service!

  • sajeerstarline - 14 years ago

    Hi...
personally i like up to 10 tips a day.

  • Mikael Halén - 14 years ago

Bring em on! If they are high in quality and I miss a couple because I am to lazy to read them all its my own fault.

  • LukeSF - 14 years ago

More info will never hurt but quantity should not sacrifice quality. Besides too many HQ tweets are hard to digest:)

  • Abbe - 14 years ago

Totally agree with Arnór. The only disadvantage of getting so many high grade tweets from smashing mag is that i don't have the time to read them all :(

  • Stuff - 14 years ago

More than 26 day? Seriously? I can only imagine that if your into HTML5 and want to bash Flash.. lol

I can't remember, in the last month anything related to flash in this magazine.

On in the other hand, I already saw more than 5 tweets relating HTML5 as a saviour and anoher good bunch of them related to how Flash is bad.

I even saw smashingmagazine tweet one very ridiculous article about flash on the Nexus One that was complelty BS and with no content at all...

I guess to a magazine that can reach so many viewers, you should really try to stay neutral, thing that you just can't do.

    Thanks Bye

  • Mark Rodrigues - 14 years ago

Smashing tweet on so many different topics (of which I am only interested in a few).
Maybe set up a couple of different twitter accounts so we can subscribe to the sub-domain we are interested in.

  • Irakli Nadareishvili - 14 years ago

An absolute +1 on Arnor's point. You guys may be the only one, but in your case - I want to get quality tweets you've been producing, as often as possible. No need to slow down.

  • Martin - 14 years ago

I love all your links... but it is spamming my timeline and hard to catch up. Why don't you write one post a day containing all those links with short descriptions as a regulary blog entry?

  • Arnór Heiðar - 14 years ago

Personally, I like getting a lot of smashingmag tweets. I don't like it when people tweet too much, but in your case it's just high quality links, usually, so I don't mind at all.

    Thanks
