I agree, this is the biggest joke of all time. The reason I loved Ole Miss and the reason I picked Ole Miss is because of the traditions and the rich history. The new motto at Ole Miss is experience amazing well I want my money back cause all I have experienced is heartache and pain. The worst part is that Lucus Films will never allow it."it's flattered by the possibility of Ackbar being the mascot -- though "it will be difficult for him to show up for the games!" that is a quote released from lucus films. They are happy about that and don't understand that it is saying that you need to stop or we will start suing.
What we are suppose to be aliens now. AT least Col Reb represents a human being. What made me proud to say that I went to Ole Miss is the traditions that are upheld there. This will make Ole Miss a laughing stock and bring down the image. Fantasy and sci friction have their place at a college or university that is for film making, not for a college that promotes its law school, pharmacy school, and medical school. Who will take anyone serious that has a degree from Ole Miiss anymore if this becomes the mascot.
I agree no mascot can replace Col. Reb... And this one will make Ole Miss a laughing joke. Cant they just leave well enough alone. Growing up in Oxford I have been a die hard Ole Miss fan since birth, my whole family has attended Ole Miss, My children will be attendind OLe Miss as well. BUT with the mascot they are looking at, I'm thinking I might have to jump ship.. My house might not be divided much longer ( my husband is a die hard State fan) the house divided flag that hangs in my yard and tag on my car might just might be done away with also.
No Mascot can replace Col. Reb.
