> with kids having access to adult themed apps, it is SOMEONE ELSE "teaching" your kids
But that's my point exactly. You cannot prevent them from getting access to "adult" content. That battle is already lost. You have to teach them your values about adult behavior FIRST. That is your only chance.

Sorry Justin but your argument falls over. The whole point is that with kids having access to adult themed apps, it is SOMEONE ELSE "teaching" your kids, not the responsible parent or teacher. You can't seriously expect anyone to believe if you have kids of your own that you'd hand them porn and tell them to learn from that. Adding an adult category doesn't limit what adults can see, therefore it doesn't remove that adult's freedom... but it does help to reduce the possibility of inappropriate content appearing in the market when a child is using it.
Consider this view... will a responsible adult buy an Android based phone if/when they read about the adult content on the market? No. Might they if they have access to parental controls to prevent their kids seeing adult themed apps?

Right Donut, kids have skin too. So why are we pretending it's a big secret? You're not going to keep them ignorant by hiding reality. That stopped working years ago! If you don't teach your kids, someone else will. Is that what you want?

What's the big fuss about sexy parts? Everybody has them. Relax and get over it already.

Even better would be an option not to show explicit or adult applications at all.
