i wonder what the results would be if you had to prove you actually owned the software you were using.

I've used Cubase,Presonus,Sonar and Image Line(FL),but no one can beat Ableton Live!Every day you can discover something new in.With the Native instruments plugin you can have a real and complete studio!
We use Ableton Suite rewired into Logic. It's the best for what we're trying to accomplish as artists. In the past, we've used Pro Tools, Cubase, Cakewalk, Digital Performer, Fruity Loops, and Reason. They all fall short of the versatility that Ableton Suite offers. But this topic is very subjective. I have a friend who swears by FL Studio and he creates excellent music. My advice is to try out everything and find the best combination. I just happen to believe that it's Ableton simply because of the clip view, which no other DAW offers. The ease of transition from arranging to performing is what makes Ableton stand apart.
protools, and running ableton on protools hardware, is the best daw solution out there.
in fact, fl studio is also very obsolete to me unless rewired into a protools session.
i hate to sound so biased, but i'm sure that anyone that says protools isn't superior here simply hasn't given it a proper spin or otherwise doesn't know better.

this is rigged, but IMO DIGIDESIGN's ProTools paired with Ableton Live is the best combo out there, that aside in a shoot out between analog summing amps and mix-buses and DAW output Nuendo beat ProTools, Logic, Ableton, FL Studio, and Ableton Live. We tested these because they are the ones every one talks about (we did not use Cakewalk because it uses the same Steinberg mix bus as Nuendo)

Yeah...you've got a point there. Surprisingly, people will vote for the DAW they use. Might have to do something with the fact that they use the DAW they use because they like that one best. Of course, you as the expert on all DAWs don't use the DAW you voted for or didn't you vote for the DAW you don't like or...sorry, you lost me after your first mind-bogglingly fundamental insight.
i do think the results of this will be a bit interesting but i suspect most will vote for the daw they currently use as most are bias to whatever they have been using for a while. my vote was for ableton live although i have used cubase, fruity loops, energyxt, garageband, logic and reason. the reason i have settled with live is that i seem to be able to wrap my mind around certain techniques that i just could figure out with most others. to me it is very straight forward. to each there own. (^_^)
