I think there is some misinformation going around. The clock was donated to the city by an elderly gentleman who came to Canada in the early 1970's and wanted to show his appreciation to his adopted country and city. There was no tax dollars involved as he covered the entire cost out of pocket. I think it is a very nice gesture but unfortunately the city thought best to obscure the clock with a traffic sign (as needed as it is considering the poor driving of Windsorites). The clock should be raised well above the level of the sign so that it is clearly visable to all and the sign can still do its job.

The issue should not be about the sign, but about the miniscule monument. Really? A monument so small that a street sign hides it? Unreal.

The sign and the clock should both be taken down and the hard-working people of the city should be refunded their tax money. There is nothing appealing about that clock, and unless you are blind there is no use to that sign.

Contacting any member of our local council is pointless. No one will do anything until there's a huge outcry. As Canadians we are far to apathetic to rise up about anything. The clock will stay exactly how it is until someone in the upper tax bracket makes a call to one of his pals on council.
When the clock was installed I emailed Bill Marra and commented that the sign obscured the clock. He replied that he would bring it up with the appropriate city department. Nothing has been done since. In my message to Marra I suggested that the sign be elevated above the level of the sign. We shall see. If more people express their views the city may actually do something.

How about just lift the clock up?
Couldn't the sign be lowered, rather than raised? Maybe something horizontal could be used instead.
