Captain American is supposed to be in his early 20's, so the actor should be around that age range. Both Gerard Butler and Mark Valley are too old for that part. This is an origin story.

When you look at Mark Valley, it is clear that he can play Captain America. The man has only done two previous things in Boston Legal and Human Target, and with that now, it is clear that he can act and do the action scenes if required. Captain America is the alpha-patriot and given the opporunity, Mark Valley can fill the costume and become America's hero.
