i don't view language as a line spectrum, with written and oral on endpoints with 'e-speak' between. in my uneducated view: formal communication is about rules, oral is about flow, 'e-speak' is about efficiency. it doesn't appear to be a hybrid of the two, but more akin to morse code, air traffic controllers, cooks in a busy restaurant, and other such arenas where clarity and efficiency of messages is paramount.
