Itachi asks Naruto whether he would be able to kill Sasuke if it meant saving the village, but would Itachi himself be able to?

I think, in a way, Itachi wanted to hear Naruto's answer, so that he could find his own answer as well. It must have been a question he had been asking himself for years.

I believe, if it came to it, Itachi would be able to kill Sasuke if he knew there was no other way to save Konoha.

No, I don't think Itachi could kill his brother either. He has already proven that by sparing Sasuke before. He would rather let Konoha fall than allow that fate.

If Sasuke had to die, I think Itachi would be the one taking revenge on Konoha, just as his brother is trying to do now.
