Which of These Are You Skeptical Of?

    Evolution was my favorite class in College. I was a biology major and pretty much just believed my professors. I loved how the whole thing seemed to explain reality. I reconciled it with my faith by concluding that God was behind it all. However, one day I woke up with the revelation that it was not true (it turns out that my girlfriend, whom I later married, was praying for me). But, how amazed I was over time as I was introduced to scientists who held to creationism (and for very good reasons). I now see that to imagine life springing from non-life is rather unscientific and suggests a strong anti-God bias that would require a ton of blind faith. I just don't have that much faith.

    As far as global warming, I am skeptical but not at a hard-core level. However, I mistrust the politics behind the movement and also see a lot of inconsistencies. I recently heard something that I thought was very interesting. It seems that even if global warming is happening, the results of poverty from not expanding
    economic growth predicts more death and suffering than the consequences of global warming. So, what are the motives of this movement? They certainly don't seem to be very transparent.

    I'm skeptical to both for many reasons.

    Warming could occur, but I don't think is has anything to do with us humans, it is just a natural cycle. We have had several warming periods in the last 4000 years, the latest was the Medieval Warm Period, which IPPC didn't even include in their hockey stick graph and the temperature isn't even close to what they predicted it would be at this time.

    It's more politics than science in my opinion.

    Don't forget we had a global cooling scare in the 70's

    Both are concepts of a natural man; and maybe related; no born again christian should accept either as fact;
    God alone controls the thermostat of the earth and the cosmos; evolution is tied into atheism and global warming, a new age concept never proven; the earth in over ten thousand years has not varried five degrees either way.

    Survey Bias -

    Global Warming/Climate change is occurring - fact . There are ten scientific and observable components, none of which scientifically say it is man causing it. A researcher should start with the observable knowns

    1) animal habits and changes 2) ocean temperatures in measurable/recorded past and levels increasing 3) Algae growth 4) Glacier reductions in past 100 years 5) weather pattern changes, including heavier rainfalls, increased snowfalls and flooding 6) Coral reef bleaching 7) Arctic and Antarctic warming 8) Heat waves and periods of unusually warm weather 9) increase of spreading of disease 10) Droughts and fires
