Mandate is a word that comes with strings. Everytime something is MANDATED, it comes without the money to provide that service. Our schools job is teach the core subjects that gives the child the tools to learns. The parents job is to provide all the rest. Parents,for some time now, have given up their responsibility to teach and nuture their children to become good citizens as well as healthy adults. Children will learn good nutrition if they have good food served them. No amount of teaching nutrition in schools will do any good if parents continue to serve non-nutritious food at home and continue to have junk food in the house.
Someone needs to help these kids, everyone complains of the waste of our tax payer dollars...these kids aren't abusing the system.
