Think of how much more you paid for travelling with your airline/alliance, the added connection... all that means a lot more than a tiny 4% rebate on all your expenses with them (the rough equivalent of a 4cpm redemption). Look out also for the real fares. My miles with AF in Y are almost valueless since most IB direct flights are cheaper than AF/KL/UX/AZ "airport taxes" levy.
Can't believe how many people are willing to redeem for a ticket under 3cpm. I redeemed a First Class award on British Airways for 18cpm! Anything less than, say, 8-10cpm is a waste.
