Hi Ann!
I also posted a blog for people to look at the another fitness challenge and vote for the best contestant!
-Andy
I would be more than happy to help work with Herbie, once he gets to a point where you feel he can continue into the hypertrophy and beyond stage. I tend to specialize with clients in those areas. Unfortunately I am located in LA, but again I can certianly help design a work out routine for him to follow with your guidance! I look forward to chatting!
All the best!

Hi Ann,
Herbie has created a blog and a facebook page which allows people to track his progress.
He has hundreds and hundreds of fans who've supported his efforts.
They are logging on to vote to support their friend Herbie to reward him for his efforts.
I'm sure that is what is happening with Scott as well.
It's all positive! Gets more attention to HFPN and attention to the great things that people are capable of, when in the hands of health and fitness professionals like all of us associated with HFPN & NASM.
Hope this helps!
Message me if you have questions!

I think its great that Andy is in the lead for this contest. I think he's done a great job. I am curious though. How did he get 146 votes, and Scott got 123 votes where there were only 51 contestants?
Good luck Andy! I hope you win.

Sorry...my story got cut off....

He was hitting the gym 5 days a week, and then I got word from Herbie last week that he was competing in his first ever 6k road race. He has been training for three weeks, running one, two and three miles every other day. Herbie ran a 5k! This made me so proud.
Herbie is ready for the call when it comes, Herbie is ready for the Police Academy. Herbie feels better in his own skin. Herbie works out on his own, motivating himself with the desire to improve himself, as opposed to returning to the awful lifestyle he lived just a few months before. Herbie has more energy and more self-esteem. This is a true success story, one I am very proud of. The story is on going, the sky is the limit when it comes to the athletic potential that Herbie has.
In 3 months, Herbie has dropped from 310 pounds to his current weight of 268. Yeah, that's 42 pounds gone forever.
Thanks for following Herbie's journey with me. This is why we do what we do! Changing lives every day.

Scott - He wants to get down to about 200 pounds, be ripped and fast and strong. When he gets closer and our goals get more defined in terms of moving into hypertrophy and beyond, I might contact you. I specialize in dramatic weight loss clients, and sometimes I need help when they reach their goals, because at that time, I look for the next goals to reach for. You can never be done, or satisfied, so it is so exciting when you can show them how to take their new bodies for a spin!
Thanks for the inspiration...

This "project" with Herbie Duggan began January 15, 2010. I met with a very obese, sedentary 28 year-old weighing 310 pounds. Somehow, Herbie had dropped from his highest known weight of 319 pounds measured at his September 2009 yearly physical. Herbie was just a giant block of man, standing well over six feet three inches, without much defined shape at all. He was uncomfortable in his own skin. His clothes did not fit, his uniform did not fit, he wasn't able to properly breathe while wearing his bullet prof vest. Herbie is a dispatcher for a small town in Massachusetts, for Police Fire and EMT. He also is a volunteer firefighter and part time police officer in other very small towns. This leads us to Herbie's "Goals". In addition to feeling healthier, being more comfortable in his own skin, Herbie's dream was to become a full-time, professional Police Officer. In order to become a full-time cop in Massachusetts, one must attend the Massachusetts Police Academy. Herbie has all the tools to be a great Police Officer, but prior to January 15, 2010, Herbie would not last 10 minutes in the Police Academy's physical requirements.
The goals were clear, the work was daunting. I started very slowly with Herbie, focusing on many, many forms of corrective exersise that Herbie required. Nearly everything in Herbie's body did not work correctly, or was totally inactive. 20 minutes into our first session, Herbie ran to the rest room and spent at least 10 minutes removing all contents of his stomach, and I am not exaggerating! This reaction was very extreme, but not surprising. He has this same reaction two more times in the first two weeks of training. Keep in mind that these sprints to the men's room were not caused by extreme movements, or making Herbie climb up stairs holding me on his back. Herbie was on all fours performing super-dogs, or fire hydrants or something VERY BASIC. This shows how shocking that physical activity was to his body. These were very powerful moments for Herbie. They were symbolic of the dramatic changes he was making in his life, and with change come some form of discomfort, pain and drama. After this, we moved forward.
I was happy to update Herbie's progress every other Friday when he would weight himself and report his results on his Facebook Page and Blog. The weight began to fall off..303...299...293...289...so on and so on. As each amazing weigh-in occurred, Herbie's confidence grew. He had hundreds of fans following his progress and offering him support.
After two months, Herbie was sitting at 280 pounds, and his body had changed in so many positive ways. I had moved out of the high intensity corrective phase, and was able to do more exciting parts of the OPT program. Then, the inevitable bump in the road. All health and fitness professionals have had this similar experience that I had with Herbie. Things go amazingly for a short period of time. The client is on a super-high, doing everything that you ask them to do. Herbie's diet had changes, he was keeping a food journal, he was working out with me three times per week, and began to add another day on his own. Then Herbie got sick. This knocked him out of service for 2 weeks. I worried that Herbie would quit, deciding that it was too much work and the illness was a great time to escape.
Thankfully, I was wrong. Herbie returned after almost two weeks off. We had another couple of solid weeks, and set-back number two occurred. First was illness, the next setback involved money.
Herbie was having some financial problems, and this meant reducing his time spent with me from three days per week to one day per week. Many clients would significantly reduce their intensity without me being there with them, but Herbie proved me wrong. He not only maintained his intensity, in increased the variety and frequency of his workouts. Before I knew it, Herbie was telling me about Mountain Bile Rides and going for walks
