Not a chance that carrie is better! Kelly Clarkson has a better voice, more album sales, more radio airplay, more singles, and just about the most down to earth celebrity out there! She doesn't fix herself to meet Hollywood standards on weight and looks, she is who she is and shes proud of it! and call me crazy but i have to say that when kelly clarkson was on american Idol in 02 when she was 20, she was SMOKIN' HOT!
Kelly is most successful. && I agree with Chris.. Kelly was the first to win American Idol. And it wasn't very popular then. And When Carrie was on they had many viewers!

should not be compared to kelly carrie is in a class
of her own she is beautiful and so down to earth and
the girl next door she will always be my american idol

NO contest at all! Carrie has the entire package -talent, personality and looks. She is a fantastic role model for young women. Everything she touches goes platinum but she maintains the girl next door image that so endeared her to us in the first place. Two time entertainer of the year! Kelly, who????
Both of these ladies are VERY talented; however I believe given time from AI Carrie has achieved more, making her the most successful Idol. She is beautiful, talented and can't wait to see what she does next.

Kelly is the WorldWide Idol..Carrie does NOT have a worldwide presence....Kelly won Idol at the end of '02...so if you count CORRECTLY its been 7.5 years.....Carrie won Idol at the beginning of '05...giving her 5 years now..
American Idol was bigger when Carrie was on, so she had more of an audience...and a bigger chance to make it....proven by how her first album sold ..compared to her second...
Kelly had to prove herself...and she did....her second album did better than her first...

I think that Kelly is a bigger American Idol success story because she got through the show and has sustained a career all through her talent and not necessarily an image. Carrie would have likely been a success in Country music even without AI due to her aesthetic attributes, which unfortunately seem to mean more these days than talent.

I think Billboard is screwed up of course some thats been at something 9 years compared to 5 is going to have more Radio Airplay they should divide that by the number of years they've been on the scene.In every other way Carrie tops Kelly.Kelly has the advantage of being in the most popular Genre,being in with Britney Spears Lady Gaga,Katy Perry,Christina Aguiollera Rhianna,Beyonce.If I remember correctly didn't Brittney and Christina come out selling 10 Million on their debut album.Kelly is Great but she's not the whole package like Carrie,Also Kelly is more International Carrie So far only overseas performances except for Ion Orchard in Singapore have been for Charity and the Troops,The rest have been only in North America.So far Carrie's Management hasn't booked her much overseas.Carrie is on track to be the next Reba,Martina,Barbara M.Dolly,The top Female in Country Music and its Queen.
