  • Athina Davis - 2 years ago

OK SO NOW THAT THEY CLOSED THIS EARLY WHATS THE DEAL? DOES SOMEONE WIN OR IS IT JUST STOPPED WITH NO WINNER. I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO KNOW. I DON'T THINK IT IS FAIR FOR THE PUBLIC TO PUT IN ALL THE TIME AND EFFORT OF ACTUALLY VOTING WITH THE PROMISE THAT SOMEONE WILL WIN IF IN THE LONG RUN A WINNER IS NOT CROWNED.

  • Tempe - 2 years ago

Tempe has Arizona State University, one of the largest research universities in the country, housing around 65,000 people at their campus. We deserve it.

  • lh - 2 years ago

Asheville has the best of everything else, so why not add this to our list?

  • Martha L. - 2 years ago

TEMPE deserves it most because they have been burned before!
    From http://www.tempe.gov/wifi/ :

"Notice: On 1/4/08 the wireless Internet service operated by Kite Networks in Tempe was shut down. Customers lost the ability to utilize the service both indoors and outdoors throughout Tempe. The telephone number listed for Kitenet Support was disconnected and the Kite Networks website is no longer reachable. This shutdown came as a surprise to customers, City officials and the company that had signed a deal with Kite Networks' owner (Gobility) to purchase the network assets. Unfortunately, the City of Tempe does not own or operate the wireless network and therefore cannot restore service to customers. It is unknown at this time when, or if, service will be restored. The auto-billing process has been terminated. No further bills will be generated from Kite Networks. Thank you for your patience and understanding."

it's not run by google everyone is just wasting there time with this they are just trying to see how many people they can get to visit the poll and vote. Google will make the decision not this bogus poll.

  • macbev - 2 years ago

The poll did say that it was not run by Google. I am beginning to think that it has no connection whatever with Google and will not have any effect whatsoever in Google's choice of a location for Google Fiber.

I think so because the website for the poll (not PollDaddy but the "googlefiber" website) is so chaotic. It does not display the simplicity and logic of Google.

I can hardly stand to look at it. To vote you have to do a lot of scrolling. To find the latest news, you have to look through all of the old news.

I would like to hear who the people are who are running this
poll and if there is ANY connection with Google at all. If there is NO connection with Google, why would you waste all this time drumming up excitement or support for Google Fiber?

    Something seems fishy to me.

How sad!! So many people have been motivated throughout Level I only to learn that it really doesn't matter.
It's been so uplifting to see so many supportive of their city, but that was diminished by the actions and rule changes of the creator of this website. I have respect for Google but not for this site which is biased and unethical. I'm still a strong supporter of my city. It has so much to offer. There are many deserving cities. Google will make the best choices - not this web site.

EVERYONE IN THE WORLD NEEDS TO VOTE FOR MEMPHIS BECAUSE IT WAS JUST NAMED THE BEST CITY IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ty Myshuz - 2 years ago

Memphis has won already. no doubt

  • Mason - 2 years ago

I've experienced the same here in AVL. Vote, and the poll says your vote is counted. This happened to me every single day of Phase II with the exception of yesterday when it DID actually count my vote. Today the same result, my vote was already counted. I've checked the poll before voting and in fact when it reads already counted, even if my household didn't vote, the poll is of course unchanged. What the what??

  • Janie - 2 years ago

The rules say that you can vote once EVERY day. I've been trying to vote ONCE EVERY day but when I do, it always tells me that my vote has already been counted. So, I don't actually think it is letting me vote once a day. Having said that, come on Greenville - get voting!!!

READ THE GUIDELINES FOR THIS SURVEY!!

"Note: This Open poll is not affiliated with Google and the entire activity is meant to keep the supporters engaged and excited about Google Fiber. However, we believe that audience participation in the poll clearly reflects the enthusiasm of participating communities towards Google Fiber."

THIS POLL IS NOT CONDUCTED BY GOOGLE!

the reason greenville had so many illegitamate votes(the most) is probobly because of us here at the govonors school with our 30 some computers in our library and each of our 200 some students having a personal laptop. We got prety into it before we realized that the entire school could only vote once per day per IP address(not once per computer). we have like 5 or so IP adresses but still.

  • sadie - 2 years ago

this second challenge is so fake, it really is. i wonder if it's going to become a 90 day challenge next? ooh, why not make it 120 days? oh better yet, 150!
so fake. once you've made a promise, you shouldn't go back on it. it doesn't matter who won, it just matters that almost everyone was lied to.
