It seems to me poll results might be a bit more meaniful after the beginning of a discussion period rather than before the subject is understood. This way the usuual nay sayers will begin poisoning the well before most people understand what is going on.

For instance, most are unaware that a Council-Manager system is the most commonly used method for a city our size; and that Mayor Haakenson favors it. And others will say that Council-Manager is not always a panacea. So lets listen to a discussion from our elected officials before we decide.

The Council should place it on the ballot rather than simply enacting it on the own authority. So let the people decide. If adopted it should not begin until January 2012 when our current Mayor's is completed in any event.

Do we want a city council that voted to buy Skippers hiring and giving direction to a City Manager?
Do we want a city council that can't plan for a needed levy far enough in advance to avoid a crisis directing the City Manager on how to prepare a budget?
