Which bar will have offer better beer/food specials. Specifically what the specials will be? This should be looked at more closely.

Fellow CU Alumni...this should be no contest. I've lived in SF for the past four years and Bayside was a MUCH, MUCH better place to watch the games. The atmosphere is better, Union St is better and we had a better showing of CU grads when the games were shown there...mostly because we wanted to blatantly Rep CU in front of all the other schools. Republic was supposed to be temporary...after the first three games, people stopped showing up there. Make the right decision and vote for Bayside.

West Coast Ralphie,
Sorry to call you out but your information is incorrect. The Republic never hosted CU Games. That location, when it was Jones, hosted games and we did have a fall off in attendance as the season went on. This was primarily due to our teams performance.

I agree with Teddy. I think beef/food specials are key!! From what I've seen so far at the Republic both are pretty overpriced...even for San Francisco!! I thought Jones was a great place for Watch Parties but the Republic is not the same. Bayside is also closer for those coming in form Nob Hill, Russian Hill and Pac Heights!

MMB,
Thank You for the correction. Same location, different ownership, same shitty venue. I would have classified Jones as a sports bar, as for the Republic...I have a no idea, a lounge? As for this season, expect more of the same from our Buffs. We had similar records both in 2007 (Bayside) and 2008 (Jones)...however, there were consistently more people that showed up during the Bayside era.

I agree that Bayside is a better place to watch Buffs games. I've lived here for 11 years, and when that place is full of Buffs fans, it's awesome. Jones did not know how to handle our crowd and The Republic will be worse. The service there is terrible. Is there a third option?
Question: what exactly does it mean when Bayside is the official U of A bar? Does that just mean when Arizona games are on at the same time Buffs games are that they show the U of A game on the big screen? Can't we just commandeer the bar?
I will also add that The Republic, as nice as it is, has a crappy selection of lighter, "game day" beers that you'd want to drink a lot of. Too many "kind beers" there if you ask me.

Given the location of the Republic, there is no guarantee that it will be in business several months from now.
I have lived here for 7 years, and no other bar has been able to draw the crowds that Bayside once did.
I vote Bayside. Besides, I am tired of the culture of pretentious douchebaggery inherent to The Republic.
