Little impact on the banks, huge impact for students.
You're all right, free university tuition fees would not be feasible in the current economical climate - but that doesn't mean we can't ease the financial burden on families. If money is taken from the right places from the government, it means that tuition fees can go down AND continue providing high standards of education for young people. It's all very well saying "THERE IS NO MONEY FOR THE TAXPAYER TO FUND YOUR EDUCATION ANY FURTHER", Daniel, but in fact, is there enough money to be funding MPs luxuries? There are many things that the government cannot afford, but they do it anyway, and higher education suffers as a result. People saying that more people will come because it's cheaper or free is absurd, entry levels will still be the same, regardless of family income or wealth. Personally, I believe university should be based on merit - financial situation should never be a barrier in continuing your education, but that is not to say just anyone will be let in - the procedures will still be the same.
Exactually... you cannot offer free university fees. there just isn't the money to fund that. cheaper university fees maybe, but then you may get poorer education standards.. and if you offer free university.. you could also get all the lazy people who would just ruin the university education and experience coming as it's free...

I agree with Daniel.... We could lower the price to the minimum, but your education will suffer. The cheaper the fee, the poorer your education wil be. Universities have to cut something else out to make the prices lower. Ie, education, staff, quality ect.
TO all those people who say they student should pay 'Nothing' to go to university I say. THERE IS NO MONEY FOR THE TAXPAYER TO FUND YOUR EDUCATION ANY FURTHER!
