Do you support the University of Toronto's decision to shut down during the G20 summit?

While a bit miffed that U of T did not consult us and in the midst of rescheduling classes, I (also a staff member) am actually happy that the U of T has chosen to "over-react" in order to keep people safe. Those who claim that the University is banning people from participating seem to forget that all the University is doing is to allow those of us who wish NOT to participate to do so without penalization. No one said you couldn't commute in anyway to participate. Instead of skipping school or work to participate, you can participate free and clear of any other obligations.

As a staff member at UofT I am very pleased the University considered our safety and shut the campus down. Weather people feel police incite the violence or the protesters it is known violence occurs. As someone that has not only a concern about my personal safety but the responsibility of children who depend on me to be picked up I appreciate the University's efforts. Staff do not have the option to show up as most students and faculty do. If you don't think the University considered the impact it would have on peoples lives I believe you are wrong, that is just what they did do.
