I vote for Engelbert, and it would be nice if he had a line with his name on it, so people would have more choices.
Having been in Show Business for over 43 years, Engelbert knows all the ropes, what is required to be a professional, he certainly knows about music and what it takes to put a show together. He is a perfectionist, but understands what it feels like to start out in the business. He can give great advice without being hurtful, to encourage an act to strive for perfection ~ but at the same time he would recognize a performance that was worthy to continue on the show. He has a marvelous personality, can be quite funny ~ and would bring a breathe of Fresh Air to the program. I know the ratings would climb, and the contestants would not be let down, and the audience would see the different facets to Engelbert's own style. American Idol needs a New Judge, not someone moving from one position to another ~ and I certainly hope that when a choice is made, it will be for Engelbert Humperdinck ~ as Judge on American Idol. .

Why would you consider anyone but Engelbert Humperdinck? HE has everything needed to be the perfect judge. Consider over 40 years in the entertainment business, he is thuroughly knowledgeable of every aspect of the business PLUS HE IS THE #1 MOST POPULAR ENTERTAINER IN THE UK AND #15 IN THE WORLD. His singing talent is unequaled, his ability to entertain has thrilled millions all over the world, he is a gentleman, kind, compassionate, he would give honest advice and opinions plus add his sense of humor to the enjoyment of American Idol followers. Besides being the best candidate for judge, he would bring many more viewers to AI who would love to see him weekly. Members of his 250 fan clubs would surely tune in and support the show.

    QUINCY JONES !!!!!!!!!!

Can evaluate talent like no other.
Can enhance talent like no other.

Has a mission to help new artists.

Simon Cowell would bow to Quincy Jones.

Bret Michaels gets my vote I would also replace Ellen with Cris Isaac, he is really comical.

Hey! I got an idea. How about Ted Nugent? He doesn't care to tell people what he thinks. Also, if he knew a whole lot about music, I would like to see Gordon Ramsey be a judge. I could just hear him now telling the contestants to "piss off".

Bret Michaels is not only a good musician, but has proven to be a creative, hard-working, empathetic, and very smart guy in terms of the business end of the music & television industry. He has done this as a host, star, producer, contestant, front man, talent show judge, and on FOUR reality programs. He also has a following that spans three or four generations; making him a strong demographic crossover choice. While his medical condition garnered additional notariety, it really only helped to prove his outstanding work ethic and character. He is by far the best choice for American Idol's new judge-if in fact they are adding one. The other names are also talented, but Brett is a strong & complete package, while Sharon is currently a judge on another talent show, which dilutes her value for American Idol, but she's otherwise a strong choice.

Joel diamond should definitely be the one to replace Simon! Need to add him to main poll so we can get a real feel for what the people want!

    Sponge bob. Brilliant!!

I truly think Harry Connick, Jr. would be excellent as the next judge on American Idol. He is well-loved and has years of professional experience in all forms of music. It's a sure bet that Harry would have a good "ear." Because of Simon's unfounded, nasty comments, many singers with excellent voices -- who actually sang on key -- had to leave. This is one of the reasons why American Idol wasn't very good this year. In response to the remark about Kara D., she is a very professional judge. Judges aren't there to entertain us!

Bret Michaels was a judge on Nashville Star a few years ago and did an excellent job. He gave very good constructive criticism on how to improve yourself. Another thing I would like to see is lower the age to 25 say 16 to 25. Who wants to see a grey haired idol or a Xlarge one. How could anyone like that be an idol. Just my own thoughts but hey it is a free world. My vote is for Bret Michaels!!!!

I think Bret Michaels would be GREAT!!! I had never thought of him until I saw it on this website. He was awesome on the Apprentice. He is funny and very charming and he knows music. All I can say is please get rid of Kara Diaguardi(don't know how to spell her last name). Anyway, she is ruining the show. I think Bret Michaels would add a lot to the show.

I voted other.Joel Diamond. He knows the industry and is a babe magnet:)

  • Sue - 14 years ago

Bret Michaels has been selling music for 20 years and he's been growing as an artist all this time. He's relevant, down to earth and he's successful, his star keeps rising and that's why he gets my vote, and it's no pity vote. Gene Simmons? Give me a break, he's not relevant, his shtick is marketing the KISS name on products so he can maintain his rocker day lifestyle. Harry Connick, please! Can't remember the last time I bought his music! Just because he was on idol doesn't make him mainstream or liked as a replacement for Simon. Bret Michaels writes music & lyrics, he knows what's marketable, he'd be great! He's been an American idol and is again an American idol to new listeners.

  • Jason - 14 years ago

I voted OTHER-Gene Simmons. The guy knows the music industry, he knows marketing and he is always outragous. Think about it. Gene Simmons

  • Mfugly - 14 years ago

Bret Michaels has more "musical" talent in his pinky finger than Simon Cowel has altogether. Nobody should mistake artistic creativity for absent mindedness or as a poor managerial qualities. Often times great talents are in a whole other universe while in creativity mode. Face it, it's talent and how you exploit it is what makes us advance onto bigger and brighter adventures from the last rahter than settling in to be comfortable. Talent is swooped up by the media as entertainment is the number one seller. However did Simon Cowel become popular as with anyone else who is a part of the water cooler topics? They did something that gained attention. Some can do it every day others cannot.

  • Lizzie - 14 years ago

HUGH LAURIE! An outspoken, witty Brit like Cowell, but sexier, with a greater musical background, comedy experience, and a TV show that is the most viewed around the world every week, and a Best Seller novel in Europe! With all that talent, who could ask for someone better to judge talent!

  • Marilyn - 14 years ago

I think Sharon Osbourne would be brutally frank in telling people whether or not they can sing and/or have talent.
They don't need another person on the panel that will just sugar coat issues. I think she would have what it takes to be serious and truthful without being hurtful. Just saying....

  • mostimportantopinion - 14 years ago

wtf is wrong with everyone!! brett michaels for american idol judge!!! ARE YOU F'ING SERIOUS??? NO WONDER THIS SEASON OF AMERICAN IDOL SUCKED - THE IDIOTS WHO KEPT VOTING!

  • PhotoPro - 14 years ago

    Bret - seriously????

Anyone other than those giving him a sympathy vote really chose him? Did you not see him on The Celebrity Apprentice?

He doesn't manage his time well, his "ideas" for the challenges were inane and he has the attention span of a gnat during a seizure.

The only positive for him would be if the show is taped late in the day.

I voted OTHER..JOEL DIAMOND Silver Blue Productions. Joel has the experience, charisma, personality & honesty, that American Idol needs. Just look at his track record (pun intended)..it speaks for itself. There's also a group of his supporters on Facebook.
