I think this disaster is going to be used to hike up the price of gas to an even more outrages amount, hurting this community even more. How sad!

It is an outrage! I'm all for getting oil everywhere we can, but there is absolutely NO excuse for not being prepared for the possibility of this sort of event! Hopefully this will be investigated AFTER the leak is stopped. Hopefully the politicians and whackos can wait until then.

    Hi
I agree with many people that the oil spill is a disaster and that BP as the main company involved should lead the repair and clean up effort. BUT to lay the blame ONLY at BP is wrong.
The company actually carrying out the drilling was AMERICAN
Also the permits allowing the company to drill without the usual and necessary safety procedures in place were given by the current US ADMINISTRATION.
So before President Obama and others rush to judgement they should look to their own shortcomings

I don't think is fair to blame our president Obama for the oil spill, this is the responsibility of BP and ONLY BP should be responsible. Obama and lawyers need to press on BP to fix the spill and cleanup the mess. They are the ones to be blame not our president!!!

With the looming crisis slowly drifting toward my home and community I can only feel absolute disgust and rage towards BP and Deepwater Horizon. I will never buy gas from BP again and I encourage others to do the same.

obama should be doing all possible to clean up the oil, keep it from the wetlands, beaches, etc., instead of sending lawyers down to NO, who won't do a thing for the cleanup, which must come first. Get the EPA off their duffs and allow Gov Jindal to build the sand dikes!

I live in south Louisiana, and while this spill is a major tragedy, BP is doing all that it can to stop it. Keep in mind that this is the first DRILLING disaster resulting in a spill this large. People keep comparing this to the Valdez, but that wasn't drilling, it was shipping. Personally i think that for as long as people have been drilling for oil and this being a first major incident, statistically speaking, isn't that bad. People don't demand that airline companies be shut down when they crash planes. I think someone was careless in doing their job and they should be held accountable. For the people who think that MMS is the oil industries lapdog you are sadly mistaken. These rigs and platform go through rigorous inspection and jump through hoops to maintain the requirements they have been given. If people would devote the same amount of attention to paying their bills maybe the country wouldn't be broke. Just a thought.
