I really did like this year's finale, but agree that it wasn't exactly "finale" worthy. I think they should've had the finale BEFORE the Gravedigger episode, making the Gravedigger the finale when everyone leaves. It would've been even better if they had extended it into a 2 hour finale. As it was, the finale (and to some degree the Gravedigger ep) felt a bit rushed. The case in the finale COULD have been very interesting, but in my opinion the audience didn't get to be very invested in the characters because there was not enough time to develop the relationship storylines AND the case. Last year's finale was really interesting and different and fun (I loved seeing EVERYONE and in such a different way, and the music was great!) but I had to watch it a few times before really saying I liked it. This year it's a bit the same. I am a HUGE Bones fan, though, and eagerly await the next season to see how far they take us down the rabbit hole!

I picked last year's because even though the amnesia ending was very soap-opera, the rest was fun. It gave the audience insight as to what Brennan was thinking about her and Booth. It moved the story forward. This year's finale seems to be part of a sudden about-face in storyline. Except for the gravedigger trial, and maybe the reunion episode, everything from the end of the 100th on has no connection to the 4+ seasons before it. Aside from that, it was just generally structured badly. It felt thrown together. I defended last year's finale; yeah, the ending was dumb, but Brennan is really acknowledging to herself how she feels about Booth. Even though it scared her, her facing her feelings can only lead to good things...until the 100th ending and this finale I would say that it did lead to some really good things in character development. Now it feels like some character integrity has been lost. It's sad. Despite Emily and David's great performances, it's hard to swallow what comes out of the characters' mouths. Yeah, not happy, and likely not watching come fall.
