CNN is just totally boring.. I do watch Reliable Sources on Sundays..
ABC and CBS News I never watch.
NBC I watch "Meet the Press"
MSNBC is filled with too many of hateful people.
FOX NEWS: Is very interesting and the people are fun and smart, both liberal and conservative.

Below is why I think FOX's ratings are sky high and why CNN's ratings keep skipping across the pond. The same analogy pretty much works for the other news networks as well.

On the way to/from work every day I listen to news on my Sirius radio. I listen primarily to FOX but the Sirius FOX news channel's commercials SUCK so I bounce between FOX and CNN. It's like night and day. The differences (especially when you can't see the pretty legs on FOX or sneering liberal faces on CNN) are quite a contrast.

On the FOX channel I hear news for people who want to be adults; who want to be treated as adults; who want government out of their lives; who have had a bad time and either have or are pulling themselves up by their boot straps and are trying to make their lives useful again. In a nutshell, I feel like an adult listening to FOX - not from watching it, but simply listening. On a FOX and Friends specific note, if Brian Kilmeade scaled back his smart ass routine my wife would watch it more, but overall I like listening to it. As for Shepard Smith, no wonder someone commented about how good he was here. He's always been a barely concealed closet liberal and the oil crisis is bringing it out into the open. I don't like closet liberals on any channel and when we're watching Shep during the day at work you can see the distrust/"take him with a grain of salt" attitudes within our office audience. Glenn rocks. Who would have thought America wanted daily reminders of the foundation our nation was built on. That phone may not be ringing but I'm sure he's got the folks on the other end tied up in a bind wanting to use it. Finally concerning FOX, while their ratings aren't the best because of the hour, Special Report IS the best hour of news and talk on TV - any channel, any hour. Brit started a great format and Bret has carried on excellently. Charles K kicks butt and we "almost" feel sorry for the sad liberal who has to try to defend indefensible actions by the dems. Poor Juan Williams in the early portion of the 2008 primary correctly stating Barack Obama didn't have the background, experience or necessary abilities to be president....now trying to defend him when it's being proven daily. Priceless!!

On the CNN channel I hear story after story with one theme - help me. It's always stories about how someone was done wrong and wants or got the government to intervene; how some big bad someone/something else done someone wrong and they're looking for a shoulder to cry on; how big government either made life better or should make life better. In another nutshell, I feel like a eunuch listening to CNN. Can there really be that many metrosexuals to keep a channel alive?! Evidently so.

Spend a fortune doing the research but in the end, figuratively speaking, you're going to find that news on FOX is for adults who want to be adults and news on CNN (and every other channel in today's format) is for adults who want to be cared for like children by their hero, big government.

Fox is a like all other networks a couple of news shows and a bunch of entertainment. For just the news watch Shepard Smith.

Mom Catherine is deluded. Fox news is where brain cells go to die.

  • Maguire George - 14 years ago

ABC News is fake! George is bias!

64k+ votes, and 50% are for FOX News....so wonder there is so much anti-liberal, anti MSNBC posts on this site

I don't believe in opinion news, I don't believe in the opening monologues telling me what I should think and I don't believe in a journalist openly adhering to one party or another. Although CNN is dry and sometimes repudiative it's programs attempts to cover situations from all perspectives. I am personally not a fan of network news, but I think MSNBC and FOXNews are steering their ships way to far in one direction or another.

If CNN can find a way to make the middle of the road more interesting and insightful than they may be able to create a new vision for network news, one that is not based off the people who bring the news, but the news it self.

if you want real news, watch international coverage such as the bbc. it shows you how we look to the rest of the world, not the insular look we put on ourselves.

Watch them all and do your own fact checking. It is not healthy to get all your info in one place.

I watch CNN on breaking news and MSNBC - Maddow, Todd and maybe Spitzer foropinion (not Matthews, Olbermann or Schultz).
