Final grades are nearly due when you discover that a student who's done well on most of the assignments hasn't handed in one of the major ones. What do you do?

Shake your head sadly and assign the (lower) grade earned with the zero from the missing assignment.

Grit your teeth and assign the grade that would have resulted if the missing assignment had been handed in and at the level of rest of the student's work.

Assign an incomplete and hope that the student will deal with that missing assignment before too long.

Frantically email the student to try to extract the missing assignment so you can mark it before grades are due.
