It took the NCAA the better part of a decade before they could "uncover" anything that could even be perceived as a violation. It's nothing more than punishment for being to good for to long. Reggie was the best that year his record stands for itself.

The NCAA is the last group that should say anything, these clowns make millions a week off of these kids and if they have dinner with anyone the hollier than thou ncaa ccomes down on these kids like a ton of bricks! He earned it on the field he should keep it and they should get paid anyway.

Reggie should be able to keep his trophy, He was the Best Football Player that year. The Heisman Trophy Is For The Best player and not the best person. Fight On !!

Reggie Bush was only on the field because USC, and he knowingly committed numerous NCAA violations. To set a clear precedent, the Heisman Trophy Trust should rescind the award, and strike all mention of Reggie Bush from its records as the NCAA should do from its.

The NCAA is a money making machine that makes millions off of these kids. Alleged scandal or not he earned that trophy. No ones slate is perfectly clean.

Reggie Bush won it on the field!

Its simple, he and USC cheated. How can you award someone for cheating, Pete Carroll is simply lying through his teeth, you wouldnt expect more from him. When he bolted for Seattle, everyone knew the shit was about to hit the fan.

I cant believe there is even any controversy here.

Only if he is completely innocent of any wrong doing.

My family are Trojans for life...and how come this did not happen to Matt Leinart's family, Carson Palmer's family, Mark Sanchez's samily, etc...catch my drift...USC is all aobut he better families...yes, this is racial...! now more than ever, the african american kids are goign to be scrutinized as well as their families.......as they should be...!

  • Darrell - 14 years ago

It would be one thing if it was just his family. But with him being directly involved in these violations--it's a no-brainer. If he has any decency, Bush will give up the trophy before it's taken from him.

When you don't play by the rules of the game the ref throws his flag and you lose .Reggie Bush clearly did not play by the rules so he too should lose even though his coach was his primary enabler! Shame on the both of you...as for the university...your compliance officer was inept or also an enabler.USC you reap what you sow.

The trophy should be taken - and Reggie should man-up and hand it over voluntarily. What a message that would send from him to acknowledge it was wrong, regardless of the ongoing hypocrisy surrounding the issue of amateur status and money going to student-athletes. It's disturbing to see rich and famous people make public statements of denial when the unstated is obvious - and we continue to support this behavior. Both Head Coach and Player should say "Yes, it happened. It was wrong. Here are the BCS and Heisman trophies - we'll support your decision. Please consider penalties and sanctions that would not impact the current Program and it's young players. Please levy all punitive consequences toward us, which is what was investigated and where the improprieties and illegal actions took place." If Pete and Reggie really care about SC and college football, they should use this horrible event to gain traction on changing what happens in the future, esp for USC. We've seen this all before. If Reggie, Pete, and SC continue being great which is likely, they won't be hurt over time...just a dip in line graph of their overall football careers. Pretty selfish, pretty lazy - but they can just sit in a corner and count their millions...the attention from this will subside. Addressing and advocating change around the issue could lead to something that will overwhelmingly change amateur status in college sports and lead to a true greatness for Coach, Player and USC. Go Trojans !

tHERE IS SO MUCH HYPOCRISY IN THE ENTIRE attitude of the NCAA toward the student athlete that the Bush situation should be the occasion and opportunity ion for a comp[lete h0usecleaning by the NCAA AND ALLTHE MAJOR UNIVERISTIES WHICH BENEFIT financially from their footballl programs at the personal, human physical expense of the young athletes who pllay the nation's number one sport. An entirely new way of approaching college sports tjat support large parts of the programs of many universities. a single athlete like Bush should not be made to be a scapegoat for the faiilure of university and NCAA officiials to deal honestly and humanely with this imajor problem. An attlete coming to college as a minor, l7 or l8 yrs of age is not legally capable of entering into contracts with anyone, including potential agents or University staff, incljuding coaches. One possibility is to establish two categories of studentsl, one athlete and another regular " student". The competitive athletes should be be encouraged to find competent legal and personal counselling berfore establishing any legal or moral obligations toward any schoiol or administrative agwncy like the NCAA. Needless to say, parents of athletes must be in the picture and receiive good advice and guidance as well. If highly successful athletes are to , in effet,"go tp work" for their universities they shoiuld be able to avaiil themselves of ordinary labor rights and obligations which apply to young movie stars, for example. If parents are not trustworthy or competent to protect the contractual rights of their children, perhaps special courts of equity in the probate departments of trial courts in America shoiuld take steps to protect them. Reggie Bush nor any other star athlete should not "take the fall" for the failure of the adult athletic, capitalistic /academic world to honestly address this major issue.. Probably Congress should take jurisdiction over the issue which affects the moral fibre of our country since SPORT is so important to our national morallity and morale. Bush earned his Heisman on the field...He shouldni't be punished for the failure of adult society and its business/educational leaders to handle the problem.

    The double standard continues...

steal bread if your hungry, see what that gets you...

cheat and steal titles and trophies, see what that gets you.

    Its pathetic!

I voted for him to keep the trophy because I like him and his performance; trouble is, he shouldn't hav gotten it in the first place. The voting was too early; if the voting had been after the Texas game, Vince Young would have gotten the Heisman.

HE CHEETED, HIS MOTHER CHEETED, HIS STEPFATHER CHEEDED. THEY CHEETED THE TEAM, THE SCHOOL, THE FANS AND ANYONE WHO WAS IMPRESSED BY WHAT HE DID ON THE FIELD. SOME HAVE MUCH INVESTED IN BEING A FAN OF USE FOOTBALL. FOR THEM THE ACTIONS OF THOSE THREE PEOPLE HAVE CREATED A DARK HOLE.

Reggie Bush, Pete Carroll, and the rest of the world need to understand what it means to have integrity. Integrity is defined as doing the right thing when no one is watching. How can Pete talk about the USC family until he and others understand what it means to have integrity.

  • Jerry - 14 years ago

Keep the trophy,Reggie. You won the Heisman because of your football ability, not because of your very bad personal decisions you made off the field.

  • Doc - 14 years ago

Honesty, ethics, morals; should we not expect the best out of those we "admire, respect", or do we continue to decline further into an immoral, unethical society? I think not. At some time we must take a stand for what is right! Although it is late, at least it is a beginning.

  • Just Win - 14 years ago

    Its over. Move on.

  • Brad Hawks - 14 years ago

If Bush had any knowledge of, and-or participated in in any way what so ever in the USC infractions, then he should return the trophy and be stripped of his accomplishment. IF had no knowledge at all about said infractions, then he should keep it.

  • HOPS - 14 years ago

southern cal has a history of this kind of stuff.

by definition bush was a liar,a cheat and a pro.

if this were a minor football program they would have gotten the death penalty.

what a pitiful exhibition both bush and carrol put on while living their lies.

    swagger,now you phonies.
