Congratulations Jay and Amber on your collaboration for a book. I like the title Faster! because that is really where we are. Nothing inside of business today can adjust fast enough to changes in the market because of the abundance of information which has been enabled by technology. Business remains in the ice age as to culture and responsiveness. I know many executives (at the CXO level) who can't even deal with their email. This affects all areas of the business and those companies who can be nimble will succeed.

Congrats you two! Can't wait to give it a read. Here's a few ideas you spurred title-wise:

Buff Business: Being comfortably naked in the era of transparency.
No time like NOW: The real-time revolution.

I like Kristen's suggestion above as well - even though I did vote for "The Real-Time R(evolution)" in the poll. I believe, to be effective, the title should immediately draw the user into the inside business impacts and concerns of social media. Because Social Media is always happening in real-time I like the "Real-Time R(evolution) title. It also looks cool, which is catchy. Does it speak enough to the social-media aspect? Perhaps not. But is the book just about social media real-time impact or is it about information overload? Perhaps at the completion of the other 2/3 of the book you will know for sure and the title choice may shift.

Why I like "How to Boil an Ocean?" One, I often say to my team "Let's NOT Boil the Ocean over this" So I can relate. In today’s hectic world, it does feel like we are all constantly trying to process mass quantities of information, which to me, is like trying to boil the ocean; I call it “Googleitis” ~ The inability to focus because you are too busy searching for more, more more. IMPORTANT: DO NOT go to Googleitis.com the owner runs a malware program that may harm your computer according to Google; I really need to come up with a new phrase, so I can stop the disclaimers.

At the end of the day is the book about leveraging social media to improve inside business practices? Is it a warning about the pitfalls of social media left unchecked? Is it a how to guide on how to leverage social media in an intelligent and profitable way? Knowing the answers to these and several other questions, may ultimately get the title to reveal itself all on its own.

Both options above have great appeal; as do many other I am sure; but the final outcome of the book will ultimately decide on the single phrase necessary to summarize all of your hard work. I am excited to see what you come up with and look forward to reading it!.

    Best Wishes
    Joe

(sorry the sites not up - in the process of moving it; but shoot me a note @simplify2thrive)

Congrats! This is awesome news, two of the best in this space coming together!

Although, I think your comment “trying to make it a book that applies to everyone” is dangerous. If you try to please everyone you will most likely miss the mark. Define your target market first and then develop your content strategy, title etc…

Maybe you’ll need to write 2 books.:)
