For sure better. The content is more thoughtful and while not everyone agrees with it in the comments, that is a good thing. You are helping to stimulate debate in the community.

    posts are too long

In the beginning I liked SM for its tutorials and an insight in the world of leading graphic artists. I used to visit it every day or more. Nowadays, I visit the site once a week, because I think content worsened and is not aimed at me as a self-employed web designer anymore.
I don't like all the "How to"-articles that try to give you good advice in a Steven Covey like manner. I cannot find useful tips rather than empty phrases.
Look at the German magazine t3n, which is much more down to the market, to open source solutions and to companies.
I wish SM would become a little bit more like that again.

I still read all the material but only through rss. The website is very cluttered and unenjoyable since redesigned

Oh, darn. I should have voted for "much better", at least ever since you mentioned my site in two of your posts.... he he.

No, seriously, thanks a bunch for that and keep up the good work, you've been an incredible source of knowledge and tips over the years.

Und, dass das ganze aus Freiburg kommt find ich doppelt gut!

I am new to web design and your website, but it is by far the best resource I've found. Thank you for your best practice articles! Keep them coming!

I like the contents are improving all the time. But as a design themed website the site itself could use some major design work, in its present the site is extremely cluttered where every little boxes around you is trying to get your attention, its distracting and detriment to a good reading experience. I might even go as far as calling it one of the worst designed sites on the top 10 design themed sites out there.

Which is why I use readability.

Please consider improving your site design layout.

It is certainly getting better. I am engaging myself in the articles touching myriad topics in the design world which are quite exclusive to the smashing magazine.. so when I visit SM, i know that I'm in for something new and interesting.

I come to your site at least 8 times a day looking for info and how-tos. Smashing Magazine and Smashing Network are my favorite websites on the planet. Yes, I'm a raving fan. Keep doing what you're doing, SM!

Quite a lot of the new content has been more 'intelligent' in that it has both a) been aimed at a more 'professional' audience and b) shied away from basic tutorials and list posts. I honestly believe there's a market for the list-style post and I'm sure they're good for traffic, but, in the long run, if Smashing wants to move forward and become a resource which professionals in our industry use continually I would imagine success lies in more posts which cater to a slightly more mature and thoughtful audience.

I've noticed a big improvement in the quality of the articles and a shift away from the list-post (which probably made Smashing so popular in the first place). As a resource for beginners, Smashing already has some excellent articles and I personally think the community would benefit from Smashing publishing more advanced, up-to-date and most importantly valid and correct articles.

Keep up the great work Vitaly and co.

Except for that article about deleting accounts on Popular websites. It was a bit out of place.

I haven't noticed a big difference, but I think its overall somewhat better, so I picked "Better." Except that one demo with the pixelated picture of a woman with no top. But I saw you acknowledged that was an accident, so I was glad to see it wasn't intentional.
