My question is: Does implementing meritocracy means malay/muslim candidates will be losing out to the nons for the PM post? Or is it just a stereotype the malays for all the wrong-doings of UMNO??

To be a PM is all abt how appealing u are to the masses, not just to the malays, but also the all types of communities in Malaysia.... and basically, ppl do NOT vote based on meritocracy, but based solely on popularity.

Best example, is of coz Barack Obama. Hillary will make a better President than him, she have all the experiences as senator, First lady & worked hard in policy-making, she fought hard as a first lady to push for a universal health care, which failed (at the end of the day, the lobbyists and corporations won).... for Obama, there's nothing backing his credential. He's using the old formula and ppl from the Clinton administrative for his advisory team.

Now, who got the better merit here?

The only way for us to move beyond such mindset of race, religion and gender stereotyping is through education. Scientifically, it shows that a nation with high level of literacy will focus on common values/ideals/principles in politics, Scandinavian nations are the best example.

I would like to see a non-Malay/Muslim PM as the head of state. I mean no degradation to our Malay/Muslim friends, but I believe that a country should be ran by meritocracy and not by prejudice.
