I use the killing apps and i think its a good idea to kill all the apps and programs that you arent useing. on the other had killing all your apps is a double edge sword. if you spend a lot of time killing your apps and then opening apps back up over and over agian its like restarting a car you use up a lot of gas(there for your using a lot of battery life opening and closeing apps over and over). but i still use it just dont close the apps that you use the most

As lod said, the only people insisting on task killers being essential are people who don't understand Android. I have a task killer installed, but the only time it EVER gets used is when I'm debugging software, and even then it's rarely used. Forget badly designed operating systems like windows, Android knows what it is doing and it does it well, just let it.

The reason apps don't include an exit button is that you don't need it. Android isn't like Windows. It is not designed to need an app to exit. The memory and process model works quote differently than a desktop computer.

Trust me... stop worrying about what is "running" and get rid of any task killers. Your system will be faster and your battery will last longer. Just hit home when you want to change apps. If you don't trust me, trust the android developers who have said the same thing.

Frankly I'm surprised that we need to use a task killer and that there are a lot of apps that don't have an exit option. For example the Opera Mini's menu has a space empty that would be perfect for an exit option but for some reason it lacks one so I have to task kill it. It seems to me that it is not only a blaring oversight but rude that a lot of software developers don't provide that option for Android Apps.

Some apps & widgets turn on automatically & I am forever having to turn them off cause of memory problems. What a hassel. What's the optimal available phone memory to run the standard issue apps smoothly?
