I'm talking about the comments on this page, and the challenge page, all of them. Not just this one.
I know Ive said Ive done my last post but I got 1 more in me for this poll. Brit, what is it exactly you are ashamed of? Nothing has been said here that is TERRIBLE, just some heated debate between different groups of fans. Now I agree that the Lambert fans turned some of the debate personal, none of the Hanson fans have done that, and I am not a Fanson so I cant be bringing down their politeness at all. Now Ive only done personal attacks on those who tried to do it to me, and I did it as an example of how stupid it is and kept it pretty light. I just think some of you guys are way to sensitive to be reading comment sections, if you cant handle a comment either skip it or simply don't read comments. Easy said, easy done. And using Lambert's sales figures from his current record and Hanson's current record is not a fair way to compare their popularity but more to compare their marketability. Some of the greatest song writers and performers Ive come into contact with have been very underground and also very under publicized. So maybe Hanson should go on stage at rub his face in some guys crouch or hit up one of the most mainstream reality shows, I know for a fact that if Hanson got the publicity they would have the sales numbers that Middle of Nowhere had since this album is as good as it and every record they put out, its all genius. But they don't care about being in the hot seat, they care about having a dedicated following of well educated, intellectually interesting fans. AND FOR THE RECORD AS ANY OF MY OTHER POSTS THERE IS NO BASHING GOING ON HERE, ITS A SIMPLE COMPARISON MADE WITH KNOWN FACTS ABOUT THE CURRENT STATE OF THE MUSIC INDUSTRY. Harder you hold the corporate hand, the more they pump into peoples minds that you are the best, but at the same time lose that control that makes music go from entertainment to art that can change your life.
Ok reading these comments makes me somewhat ashamed to be a fanson and a glambert. Aye aye aye. The world's existence isn't depending on this poll, so why take it so seriously? Adam along with Hanson are both genuinely talented in their own way. So quit bashing. Adam fans - you could be gaining another Adam fan if not for the bashing. Hanson fans - you could be gaining another Hanson fan if not for the bashing. The point of this challenge is being torn away from all the bickering. Give it up people. Geez.
@Simon A year after he came off Idol, you would hardly expect his sales figures to match those of people who have been making and selling albums for several years.
WWFM currently #81 on UK itunes is pretty good, considering the single isn't released yet in UK! It has done well in most countries it has been released to. Got no 1 in South Africa for instance, which may be why it was played in the stadium after the World Cup Final.
Anyone who describes Adam Lambert as a "Gaga wannabe" should listen to some of his many interviews. When compared to her he repeatedly says that, although he admires her talent, he does not aspire to be her. In fact he is undoubtedly tired of the comparison.
A lot of what you term hype and promo is actually interest being shown in Adam by other people for instance when P!nk namechecks and credits him with singing WWFM better than she will, during her European stadium tour.

Cheryl you really need to get some perspective. Adam Lambert is #14 on the Idol sales list (average) despite massive pimping and promo. The likes of Daughtry went quad platinum in the US, even Archie's album went gold quicker than FYE-- FYE wont go US platinum. Only 1 single has done anything approaching the hype - wwfm.
Overseas he has been patchy-- the UK is one of the biggest world markets, FYE got to 37 in the top 40, wwfm is currently 81 on iTunes. He is increasingly viewed as 2nd rate GaGa wannabe.
Dont equate hype and promo with success.
@jessie Who died and left you in charge. I've read what you said and honestly it sounded like a mother scolding her children. Don't try to tell us Adam fans what we can and what we can't say. Adam has been trashed on this poll way more than hanson has so look to the source. Tell your children to get their facts straight and leave Adam alone. As you say hanson are sweethearts, Adam is also. I don't know much about hanson but I do know alot about Adam. He has a heart of gold and wears it on his sleeve. I've said this before to someone else yesterday. If you would goggle his name you would learn alot more about Adam, but I know your a hanson fan so go with the ignorance that others are posting. Sure hanson have been in and out of the business for many years, maybe they will make it this time. There is no way to compare what hanson has done to what Adam has done. Adam is a new artist and growing every day. Check out ticket master for his concert tickets. All sold out. When he goes international he is already sold out in Malaysia and Japan. Yeah check your facts about his album going plat. You have no clue so you need to leave it alone.

I sure do realize that one does not need to be gay to appreciate Mr. Lambert's talents. Just like one does not need to be straight to enjoy Hanson. (I am assuming they are straight, if I am incorrect I do apologize.) Music is universal and sometimes you like something you never thought you would. I, personally lived through the Mmmbop (Is that correct spelling and or name?) song they put out. And at the time I did not like the song or them. However, since so many people are Hanson fans, I shall download some of their newer songs and give them a whirl. I'll keep you posted.
Just WOW! The next time I hear anyone talk about how glamberts are BSC or nasty, mean or whatevever, I am going to link them to here so that after reading "fansons" comments, glambert's will look like angles! I started checking out Hanson after seeing a video of Siobhan Magnus singing with them, but after reading comments here from his fans, out of my love for Adam Lambert, I will not continue with my Hanson curiosity. I would just like to comment on the word alot. The A and L are not suppose to be together. It is two different words. I have a lot of respect for the musicians out there. They put a lot of their heart and soul into their music. Everyone's opinion is different and we should all respect each other a lot.

Simon, really? The ONE AND ONLY THING I hate about gays is their inability to accept that just because something is negative that its is not homophobic. As I have mentioned in previous post, I love gay people. I am 24 year old male and have met a lot of gay and lesbian friends and they are all very cool and real people. Ok now I am gonna get defensive about Hanson. For anyone who cares to know I have nothing against gay men. I have 2 uncles who are gayfabulous and I love them more than ever and they are great to be around. But I truely believe in my heart Adam is not as great as some singers out there and his voice really does irritate me. It's been more so now since I have been listening to his songs on youtube just to find maybe a song that I can enjoy of his and I really don't. And Alcat to say that Hanson is shallow than you really don't understand music or don't listen to lyrics. For those who think MMMBop is just a crappy song that some young kids sang it is a song about keeping friendships and keep those who you love close cause you never know when they will be gone. And if you listen like Namey Name said about weird, it's an amazing song and very deep. Id be glad to go to a Lambert show, I do like the persistence of their fans and often find the gayz a very interesting and fun crowd, despite my gay jokes and assumptions from others that I may be judging on that. Now what I need to know is HOW THE FUCK IS HANSON SHALLOW! Going back to one of my previous post I must ask you to define the word shallow and give me examples. The Hanson boys are far from shallow and are some of the greatest people Ive ever read or heard about. But back to the Lambert show, you get me a ticket, meaning you, or your mom, pay for it and I am there. Also at no point have I taken an attack on Lambert other than my personal views on how his career may turn out, to put a definitive negative fact on Hanson seems to be the Lambert fans approach to being defensive. Listen to Weird by Hanson, then move up to maybe Give a Little or These Walls from their new album. Its all pretty much genius and matures along with the band and the listeners. I suggest that you buy a Glam Nation Tour ticket and experience the true talent of Adam Lambert, which you say he lacks. I may have been too young to have experienced Hanson but my mom did experience their shallowness in music. She assures me that Adam out weighs Hanson by far.
Ok, alicat, just because you may have been too young to listen and understand music during the 90's is no reason to try to make them seem unknown or unpopular. Hanson had one of the biggest hits of the 90's and has a following even 15 years later that is stronger than ever! They are true and real to their music and the fact they let go of the corporate hand that was trying to influence them in the wrong direction really is a beautiful thing in my mind. Isn't music about playing what comes from your heart and sole(not a typo, Hanson fans should get it :P), and not from the wallets of these big companies? Now I understand you may have the illusion that this cant be with your little Lambert,but thats the music biz these days, but if he is any kind of artist, and does get the success you feel he deserves then he will be independent as well, since that's the American Dream :). But I personally get the feeling he is more of an attention whore, rather than someone that, if their popularity didn't continue, would continue doing what they love, Lambert I could see just moving on to something that will get the personal attention again, maybe acting. Honestly, getting far in AI is hardly proof of musical talent. Firstly, I would be surprised if the show isn't rigged to some extent, because I know most other reality talent finding shows are. Secondly, most of the general public don't even know what true musical talent is - if they did the radio and charts wouldn't be full of crap these days.
You are right that he is what people voted for and wanted. But this just meant that he was entertaining and/or shocking and/or the show portrayed him in a way that got people to vote. I personally don't watch the show so I have no idea what he was like on it. But at the end of the day, most AI winners and finalists have been nothing but a flash in the pan. But yeah, if Adam is still around 10 years from now then I'll agree that he was truly what people wanted. :)

I don't really know why people are whining about Lambert's stage persona and attention seeking? Really, throughout the history of music there have been plenty of acts with extravagant stage personas and/ or costumes - this is part of certain genres of music and it is something some fans enjoy. There is no right way to perform music, it's all about how the artist wants to express themselves. :)

@ Jessie I think both fans have been conditioned to be defensive. Yes Adam's only been around a short time but he's an openly gay man that likes to wear make up and dress up and there's people out there who hate him and wish him to hell for that. Online he gets lots of ignorance and hate speech and has had protesters at concerts including last week and this week the hate group Westboro Baptist Church are planning on protesting 2 of his concerts. This post got people defensive because right away he got called flaming as a dig and someone said he's gonna develop a heroin addiction. Things like that gets fans defensive.
I think fans also get defensive because they don't want him to get hated on for just doing what he loves. When Adam was young he liked singing and would use Halloween costumes and makeup and his moms makeup to dress up. At 10 his parents put him in a theater group so he could sing and dress up all he wanted. Later he got into musical theater and was in musicals like Wicked but didn't like that in theater you're told how to sing and where to stand so he wanted to just be a singer. He recoded some songs and even joined a rock band but the most they played to was like 40 people and the most he got paid was in tequila shots lol.
He knew he was a little too different to get signed without a following so his friends encouraged him to try out for Idol. He made it way farther than he though he would and all the way to the finale and got signed! I'm sorry to hear that Hanson had the wrong people around them on their label and happy they left that behind. But Adam's said his label isn't puppeting him around and he would definitely speak up if they did. Now he gets to do what he's always loved- to sing and dress up a little, for a living :).

And you are correct about knowing when an artist has separated themselves from"big business and art whoring". Adam is in the music business and with that big business ensues. (Only for the good ones, which Adam is one.) Now art whoring... such an odd phrase to use my young friend. He is an entertainer, artist and singer and what they do as your precious Hanson group probably do too is sell cd's and go on tour. They are both selling their "wares" so to speak. So what you call "art whoring" is what I call the music industry. Every musician wants to be listened to and they want their cd's sold and their shows sold out. So if Adam is an art whore good for him!!!! He will make a ton of money, be known internationally and spread peace and love all over the world!!

I am not going to insist he is better, at this stage of his career he probably isn't, but they have a lot in common. First of all I started listening to music when I was about 15 or 16. This will give my age away but I don't care, (btw a lot of Adam fans are in their 30 - 40's and know about music before AI.) That was in 1987. I loved and still love a lot of different kinds of music. Hair metal, some rap, some country, blues, Classic rockers, goth, punk etc. I however HATED any kind of pop. I would say About 3 years ago I stopped listening to current music because I was not happy with any of it. Then one day I sat down to watch the auditions to AI season 8. I fell in love with music again. I knew as most of the glamily knows Adam had "it." After his CD came out all I listened to was him. Now, because of Adam I am listening to a whole lot of music I always said I "HATED". I found my music again.
And to the ignoramus who mentioned Hanson and charity work Adam has done a lot of charity work himself. Adam's Spread the light for Children, He has his own charity called DonorsChoose.org

ok....so very few videos make me laugh, but I was literally laughing out loud when I watched Adam Lamert's video. He and the people in the video look like a combination of the Mad Hatter, Avatar, and gothic fairies on crack prancing through the magical forest. Seriously, it's so sad that people are such followers. We are told what is "cool" no matter how hilarious it is.
