    Come on; the fourth option is ridiculous. That's like saying if it's cold outside we shouldn't heat our homes, because providing comfort and warmth would be to deny the reality of our surroundings.

    The idea of zeitgeist is absurd in architecture. We should design the most beautiful, useful, and durable buildings we can, but creating buildings that are "of their time" creates buildings that become dated rapidly. We should instead build buildings that reflect their location and function, rather than their time.
