Should the outcome of the All-Star game determine home-field advantage in the World Series?

There is a reason why its called the All Star Game. Having the best players of both Leagues slug it out to see which side gets home field advantage for the World Series. That is what motivates players to actually try in these type of games. And doing it season record is a bit unfair, cuz some of the team have an easy second half and some have the hardest one, you are now basing it on who gets the easier teams.

Everybody else (other professional sports leagues) has to earn it by their season record. Most of the guys playing in the all star game won't even be in the playoffs. Try this, have a game between the world series contenders at a neutral site. Winner gets home field advantage, income goes to charity.

Determining the home field advantage by an EXHIBITION GAME?? What would Judge Landis have thought of that? The best way would be by won-loss record but I can see the logistic problems with that. If a city didn't know when or if it was hosting games, it could be hamstrung re: other uses of it resources (the stadium for example) or hotel rooms and other services. The only workable, fair way would be to go back to alternating American League home field one year and National League the next. It worked for many years and would work for many more.

I voted no but I'd rather it be the current system than to give home field advantagte to the best record. Let' alternate homefield advantage each year; one year in the NL, the next in the AL.
