I would live on the southern coast of france, close to the atlantic and Bordeaux, drink lovely wines and pastis. An occasional swim, good food, relaxed people.
Having said that I wouldn't give Cornwall a miss, although it is a bit remote and the food is... hm, English. Wouldn't mind the occasional visit to Milano or Tuscany either. Kyoto. Sydney.
Say, I'd live in France with a travel ticket to g and see places.
I'd live in the eastern shore area of Maryland or Virginia.
Blending two of the poll offerings together: 'a remote village by the beach'. Major cities are a short drive or train ride away, medium sized cultural centers are very close.
And there's nothing like a fishing village on the Chesapeake Bay!
Argentina or Uruguay both countries seems are really nice and her people are very friendly, maybe also in canada, but i donĀ“t like they kill baby seals

The problem with the poll above is that it doesn't contemplate the fact that there are places that have more than one of the above categories available.
For example my first choice would be one of the areas near Lake Tahoe. It provides Mountains, Forest Area and beaches. It also provides a reasonable facsimile of a busy city (particularly if you are looking for entertainment and restaurants) and the possibility of a fair amount of remoteness depending upon where in the area you choose to live.

I think i'd buy myself a yacht and travel around the caribbean, stopping off at various islands and doing my work from there.

From an RV (Lazy Daze, fully loaded 26.5 footer), full-timing from all those places I've always wanted to visit!
Barcelona. (which really is a combination of most/all options above)
Venice.
