Cooking at home, are you willing to accommodate another person's non-religious dietary restrictions?

My husband and I are vegan for health, not philosophical reasons. So, when we dine with friends and family we figure an occasional small side step is not harmful. We steer towards the vegetarian aspects of a meal (there is always something on the table that fits that description). The real point of a meal is about being together and enjoying each other's company. Our friends and family are happy to invite us because we genuinely are appreciative of the invitaton and the meal they offer, and we do NOT lecture about our life choices or theirs.

I suppose you left out the bacon as well...what kind of host does that?

I agree with Michaela and Casey! Answering is kind of like pounding a square peg into a round hole. I did get kind of irked by a guest who assured me he was a strict vegetarian (so I cooked accordingly), but then at dinner he said it wasn't much of a meal without fish, chicken, or pork. To him, "vegetarian" meant eating anything except beef. Go figure!

Why isn't there an option for yes, I am willing to accomodate that, regardless of the circumstances?
