I feel that pedicabs are long overdue for New Orleans. I am a bartender in the french quarter, and when there is an event that brings a lot of tourists to town; parking is expensive, or non-existent. Having a mode of transport to get me through crowds, road blocks, and "sketchy" parts of town,?...sounds like a great way to get back to my car. (normally parked in C.B.D.) The only people who oppose this idea, must be working for the carriage, and cab companies! No one against them has had a very convincing argument.."Roy Lafleur". As far as being unsafe?!.. this is New Orleans! there are far more dangerous ways to get around in a town full of inebriated tourists. lol. Also, "slow traffic down"?. have you never been behind a carriage? well I'm rambling; but I think pedicabs are great... $1 a block may bit a bit pricey though..."service industry discount" maybe?

I have lived in South Carolina my whole life, and in Charleston, another city with similar streets and heritage to the French Quarter, we have pedicabs. While certain operators can indeed be dangerous, they are usually regulated enough that the companies fire dangerous operators, and the number of pedicabs certainly reduces the volume of full-sized cabs in the city, helping with traffic and emissions. They are certainly a great option for any city such as New Orleans.

I was in San Diego last year, where they have pedicabs. They would zip in and out of traffic, would come to a sudden stop, and you had to hang on for dear life. A woman was killed riding one, while I was there. They were not very well regulated.

In any city, especially a so called world class destination, the more options a visitor and local alike have the better. Stop holding our guests and residents hostage, and give all the choice to move about in various, and, hopefully, more economical fashions.

If part of the FQ is off limits to bicycles, then how will the pedicabs get by this ban?

After all these year's YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS,Give those poor horses a break, they have to pull that heavy ass wagon ,and all the lazy asses that are to lazy to walk and appricate window shoping up close
so I say yes to the Pedicabs'.

$75 for a carriage ride in the quarter that went about 20 blocks is rediculas! They are ripping people off and don't deserve to have the only option in the quarter, especially when the cab drivers will not take you if are not going far enough. Cab drivers ripping off tourist and refusing to pick up customers is a whole other issue, but they don't get to say who else gets the business they refuse to take! If you do need a cab, call United. They are the best cab company and do not rip off the tourist!
