If the Lakers play in the 2011 NBA Finals, which team would you like them to face?

I see everyone's point on serving up Boston to the slaughter but I'd rather see the Lakers play the best team out of the east. If it's Boston than right on, thank God, lets rub it all in there face. But I think a healthy Miami is the team to beat. They are not young at the core, James has been in a final, and at the top of the playoff race so he's no inexperienced wanna be. Wade....every bit as good as Kobe, next year probably better cause he's younger. They break even at center and I think Gasol is a bit smarter I Q wise. The rest of the players, well come on, the Lakers are so deep it's unreal. The major player again will be Lamar, if he comes out wearing a dress like he did last year we're done. So, it's up to Lamar, you hear that you reality TV married to the mob junkie?

i would like the lakers to face bosten because they both have something to lose or gain.
one can tie for most championship in the nba .or one will go up one .that a fire in the hat.and it would be a game to see.but in my opinion lakers will ring in the win again.

Shaq has become a hanger-on. He actually hurts teams now - sad. Might not hurt C's, who are not all run all the time. Confusion with other O'N and return of Perkins will give Doc political headaches. Three-Heat recipe - one for disaster. How about a reborn Magic making the finals?

I voted for the Miami Heat, and I've changed my mind, and would like to say strongly, that I would prefer to see Kobe vs. Shaq in the finals, with Kobe driving on Shaq in the closing seconds of game 7, shooting a three over Shaq's outstreched arms to win the series, after a premature celebration by Shaq. I like LeBrawn less and less, and the Miami Heat never very much anyway. I really enjoyed the Celtics underdog run in last seasons playoffs, and the consensus has been that the Celtics are over the hill, and nothing could be sweeter than to see Boston stuff the hated super heroes of South Beach. I believe that LeBrawn quit in the playoffs this past season, and that's no good. One sees players taking less money this season to makethe threepeat happen; there's a comraderie and team spirit amongst the Lakers, no complacency at all, in Phil Jackson's final and hopefully greatest season. I know that Kobe would be happy with 0 points, and a threepeat!

In an ideal world. LBJ quitting on the Heat in the fourth quarter of game five as the 'super team" loses to the Atlanta Hawks. Then the Celtics and Shaq in the finals for three in a row to tie up the series. That would be sweet.

Crushing the Celts again for that next Championship would be ideal. But I think I'd enjoy watching the Cavs win out in the east before falling to the Lakers. Yeah, I know it'll never happen but it would make me very happy.

The Heat doesn't have the size and length to even make it out of the East finals. As much as I'd like to see Kobe put LBJ in his proper place, I stand with most of LA looking for the Lakers to take what another respondent called "the rubber match" from the hated Celtics.

As a celtics fan... of course the celtics! doesn't get better than that. and sorry to say if the heat go, going to have to hold my nose cheer the lakers.

I have two reasons ! First, I admire Kevinn Garnett. He is the most stylish player in NBA. At same time he is one of the best players. He is close to finish his career. The ideal way is to do that as THE CHAMPION. The second reason is the DUEL between Kobe and Shag.

I assume the Heat will have the best record in the East. I want the Lakers to Three Peat against the best the East has to offer.

Listen, the ideal finals would be against Boston again. You don't want the Heat in the finals the next year cause they are bound to be in the finals several times through out the next 6 years. Beating Boston again would solidify Kobe as the greatest Laker of all time. It would also say numbers about how 3 of the best players in the world (who have already played with one another before) could not win a championship, much less make it to the finals.

The heat not making the finals while the Lakers stomp through a 3-peat would destroy Lebron's legacy, not that it already hasn't bee severely tarnished. But I believe this could be the deciding ring which would push Kobe so far away from Lebron that the comparisons between the two of them would never come up again.......what am I saying? There will always be dumb A**'s will that will try and compare LeQuit to the Black Momba.

Lebron can wait, we'll get him later. The Celtics and Shaq, if they can make it, will be done after next year anyway. Phil can retire and the Lakers and Kobe can start another streak. Go Lakers

For Kobe's sake I would like him to go down with a victory over the freaking King...better known now as LeFake. He has already beaten the Celtics and the sooner he gets a shot at LeFake and little dwade the better for him and us. Besides I really don't want to see Shaq and the Celtics have a shot. I hope the Celtics finish last. RENT-A-SHAQ DOES NOT DESERVE TO PLAY AT STAPLES FOR A TITLE.

Much rather beat the Celtics over and over again. Was a very close series! I think it was the most exciting playoff series I have ever watched. Next time we beat Celtics (really, next time we win), we tie the Celtics. Could hardly be better to tie the number of championships with the lineup the Celtics have (including Shaq). I'm a big fan of all the Celtics, but that's because they PLAY! Its a total team. Great fun to watch them roll over the East, and I was very happy to see us beat them -- come from behind!! -- in game seven! How can it be better than that!

I don't think Miami will be good enough this time, but their time may well come. One needs to remember that while all three of the best free agents this year went to Miami, those three are no where near the best three playoff basketball players in the NBA.

if the heat make it to the finals, they will win it all. that means they would've been battle tested against either orlando or boston. the lakers better hope the heat don't make it to the finals.

We the LA fans definately want the hated Greens for a few reasons: one, the Final Lakers v. Celtics in 2011 will set up a grand stage for the rubber match. The Celtics was victorious in 2008 and the Lakers in 2009; two, the Big Three 1 are getting old, and we want to beat them fair and square when they still have something left in the tank collectively and individually; and finally, the Big Three 2, the South Beach version, can wait because they will have plenty of years ahead to get their chances at the title. If I may add a little more, in the last final everyone concedes that LA and Boston had a grueling 7-game series--especially the 7th game. The Lakers edged out but barely did so. We would want a convincing, resounding win against the Celtics in the closeout game in which Kobe
would be having a defining game unlike the performance he had in the last year's 7th game. Kobe's Redemption!

I dont want to see Miami make it. Better for Laker organization to beat the Celts to tie the all time record. Send Shaw out on a loss for trashing Buss and Kobe. With J. O'neal and S. O'neal...wait, is Shaq even the best O'neal on his team? I don't think so, but I digress. With those two additions, I think the match-ups are more entertaining in a Lakers/Celtics championship.

    1. Beating the Celtics
    2. Beating Shaq
    3. Beating the Celtics with Shaq to tie the all time championship record reminds me of the phrase: having your cake and eating it too.

New Jersey Nets Follow Lebron's lead Take the easy path to a title and avoid the hard work of playing a really good team.

The Heat are a younger team and their core will be intact for the next 5-7 years. The Celtics window is closing fast and LA has maybe 2 more years with Kobe at his prime before decline. I'd rather see LA at their best in June get one more shot at the Celtics before they ride off into the sunset. At the end of the 10'-11' season Doc will be gone, Shaq will be gone, KG will maybe retire, and the Big 3 will become the Dynamic Duo (Pierce and Rondo). This is the Celtics last stand and after all of the Finals losses in the 80s it would be such a sweet victory to stick it to Boston one last time before they become a shell of a franchise as they were before the Big 3.
