Fear of the spank is good. My father used to use spanking after a trial done a day after the wrong doing happened. It gave both parties to deliberate on the issue. I thought it helped in my development. But it is difficlt to recommend spanking.

I only remember one spanking that I got. Although my parents had no problem with spanking, they rarely spanked me. I think this whole thing is way out of context. I think spanking as discipline is ok but I don't remember spanking my son. The principal will not spank the children obviously. Where abuse comes in is when a parent puts the child in front of a TV and ignores the child. I had the most kind loving father there ever was. He disciplined me because he loved me. Both of my sisters and myself adored my father. Spanking has nothing to do with love or lack of love. Just because people believe spanking is permissable it does not mean they condone abuse and most people who spank their children rarely have to do it.
