Are government employees paid too much?

I agree with Susan. There is a broad disparity among the pay levels of federal workers. Most will be receiving a 1.5% cost of living increase in January 2011. That is about average for the last 30 years. WBZ qouted the increase as being over 30% the other day. I have no idea where they got that information from or what country's government they were refering to.

I think your question is so broad that it's annoying.
Do I think that legislators who draw a salary from other sources and do next to nothing in the legislature over paid? May be.
Do I think that the majority of state workers who put in long hours at there jobs, and haven't had anything in the way of a raise in years, not so much.
As I see it, state workers work in good faith and don't even get a cost of living raise.
Unfortunately people who learn to work the system, can avoid doing much, because once they make it past the the trial period they are almost imposable to fire, but I think they are the exception. I believe that most workers want to do there best to do a good job and it would be difficult to operate the state without them.
Perhaps you could give some thought to framing questions, given the economy, that don't set people up as the enemy for no reason other than, evidently, feeding your political leanings.
