I agree with Peter about remaking these Swedish films (the first of which I really enjoyed), although I really enjoyed the books. There is no reason for Fincher to make these films. However, I am looking forward to seeing the two remaining Swedish films.

I wouldn't exactly call Rooney Mara an unknown -- she's starred in films previously, even if no one saw A Nightmare on Elm Street.

Is it just me in wondering who cares? These books were barely readable, with a poor translation, terrible plotting, and gaping plot holes. On top of that, they've already been made into Swedish language films, so a remake this soon seems gratuitous.
On a related note, Fincher seems to be losing his touch. I loved all his movies until Benjamin Button, but am shocked to see him directing a movie about Facebook followed by this double-remake. What happened to original material?

it just feels like an ellen page type of character, tough and unforgiving, but i have complete faith in david fincher so i think it would have or will turn out in any case
