I took some salt and pepper shakers from the cafeteria when I was in college for use in my dorm room. 40 years later I'm still using them.

I've been known to take bamboo chopsticks from Oriental restaurants. That's the extent of my restaurant thievery.

When I was in college, my whole room kitchen was furnished with dining hall plates and silverware! Although things have changed since then, my hands are not completely clean- I have pilfered about 4 beer glasses during my lifetime. The glasses were worth it and I have made sure to tip the server/bartender welll!!

I took things from the cafeteria in college so that I could make food in the dorm. I guess I don't eat at fancy enough places to desire the restaurant ware now.

30 years ago while working as a teenager at a local fast food, I was upset because I had to keep replacing the ashtrays with the restaurant logo on them. The manager said we put the logo on so people WILL steal them.
It's just another way of advertising.

Years ago I took a beer glass from a bar in Des Moines, Iowa called "Buzzard Billys" it was a favorite stop of mine and a great place to get cajun/creole food in a town that doesn't offer much for that style. The restaurant flooded in 2007 because it was in the basement of an office building downtown and has not reopened (although they say it will someday). I'm glad I was able to get the logo'd beer glass when I did. Who knows if it will ever reopen and I have a souvenir of a place I had many great memories of.

The only time I took anything from a restaurant was at a nationally known pizza place when, after waiting for 20-30 minutes, I still couldn't find the waitress to get the check or to-go boxes, so we picked up the serving plates and left with the food. She was out back smoking as we drove off...

Grats Lulu on being a thief. Bet you would hate it if someone stole something from you.

A friend and I once had such slow service at a restaurant we began [slowly] taking items off the table to see when the waitress would notice. The entire table was empty (including condiments) by the time we ended up with our bill, 45 minutes after having to ask for said bill. We did not return the items. We also, never returned to the restaurant.

Okay, I don't really do that. But I have taken a glass or spoon from time to time.

I work for a corporate restaurant and I "borrow" stuff every shift. Glasses, silverware, cleaning supplies. I haven't bought garbage bags in 8 years. Just a perk of the job.

being broke doesn't justify stealing. you could buy plastic silverware for real cheap at the local grocery mart. only n*gg*rs do that

Did you go back to the restaurant, Caroline, apologise and pay for what you took?

I admit it, I did. That was when I was broke as all get out and just moved into my first apartment after college. I've matured since then.
