Disney employees are called CAST MEMBERS. This is because while at work they are either on stage or backstage. While onstage they wear the costume that is appropriate for their assigned role. When backstage the dress code may have more variance since they are not in immediate contact with the guests. If this person had a role in the production of CATS, for example, would they expect the producer and director to allow them on stage during their performance in something other than the costume needed for their role? If this person has been employed for 2 years and this issue was not brought up before now, then I agree with the previous commentors in regards to an underlying purpose may be the real issue here.

She knew what the dress code was when she was hired. She has been working at the resort for 2 years and this just now becomes an issue? I agree with Melinda that there is a hidden agenda. Personally, if I walked into an establishment, unless it had a religious affiliation, and saw any religious dress I would walk back out. Muslims say that the US is Islamaphobic and while I agree that it may be true, can youblame us? Islam is supposed to mean peace, but they are, to the best of my knowledge, the only religion that advocates the death of those who do not practice their beliefs.

Where will it end!!!! If companies don't stand their ground then the next thing someone will be taking them to court because they prefer to wear their pajamas or something unbelieveable and it will end up being a disaster. When you hire in with a company they explain what the dress code is at that time. If you don't agree with it you always have the option to decline the job or ask at that time about your religious beliefs how you can observe it if it requires you to wear something outside the dress code. If she has worked there for 2 years and this is just now becoming an issue I believe that there is an underlying message.

As a retired cast member of Disneyland I am totally aposeded to diviating from the Disney Dress Code. If we let cast members on stage wear what they want then Disneyland is no longer the Magic Place. When you hire into Disneyland you agree to abide by the Disney look for this reason. If you do not want to Disney will accomidate you by working back stage.
