Should FM radios be required in cell-phones?

My UK mobile (= cell phone in British English) has an FM radio. But that only works when the head phones are plugged in as it uses the headphone leads as an FM aerial. Most of the time I don't carry my headphones about with me and so would not be able to listen to any FM broadcasts.

A text message (=SMS) would be a much more efficient way to send out emergency info, as that will get to the phone even if the phone is not switched on when the messages was sent - unlike an FM radio broadcast.

FM radio is good - I use it a lot in the UK - both at home and in the car. (Our BBC Radio stations are very good - especially the talk radio channel BBC Radio 4). Only problem is the UK government currently plan to phase FM transmission out and move to DAB digital radio (a poor out dated standard that requires expensive, high powered receivers, and has patchy coverage compared to FM, Medium wave or Long Wave).

Stick with FM is my advice - but not on a phone.
