I hope when the full redistricting is begun that elected officials who stand to gain the most from the outcome have the good sense to form a committee of knowledgeable people outside City Hall. I'd suggest a professor of government/political science from each of the area's universities as the core of the committee.

To realign two wards now means aligning 50% of the city's wards without looking at population figures. The realignment should await availability of 2010 census data which would allow a city wide realignment based on recent population numbers.
