I would like to have seen Iowa join Ohio State, Penn State, Indiana, Illinois and Wisconsin.

Nebraska join Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern, Purdue and Minnesota.

This would have been more balance. Then play for a Big Ten Championship Title.

Very glad it wasn't a purely east - west split. I would have preferred something more overlapping, like OSU, UM,Wis, Minn, Ill, and PU in division A, and PSU, MSU, Ind, Ia, Neb, and NU in division B. Then the rival games could be the in state team for those states with two, and other geographic close teams for the others. An east - west split is unfair to the west since more population and recruting is in the east, and there is potential for the same problems that led to teams leaving the Big12.

Who cares? There still the Big Ten. Even with the addition of Nebraska, there still miles behind the Pac 10 and then there is the SEC which the majority of Big Ten teams would have a tuff time beating Vanderbilt.

other than splitting Ohio State and Michigan so they can play each other two weeks in a row once a decade, what was the purpose in not splitting the conference east and west?
That would have made it easier for fans to attend the games. Remember fans?
