I was an instructor in the Air Force for 15 of my 20 years, and I have had my days of being tongue tied and pre-coffee dumbness, but I have never seen a professional politician who was suppose to be up and runniing at a debate do this badly. Jan Brewer has lot of questions to answer concerning statements she has made since become Governor in Jan 2009. There is no way I could support anyone who hides out from the public and the press for fear they are going to ask her a tough question. You have to have guts and stamina to run a state. I don't know what kind of a job she has been doing, since the entire nation is in the ditch not just Arizona, but I plan to spend more time checking her record out. So far, she has not doing anything to convince me that she is not another Sharon Angle (Nevada Senatorial candidate). What about this Private Prison buggaboo does she really have two senior staff members who represent the private prisons she has made contractual agreement with? I understand that she has been running away the press on that quesiton also. Corruption and dead bodies in the desert? Is this the Jan Breweer story in a nut shell or is there more that we haven't heard about?

Anybody can make a mistake. The best speakers make mistakes. But this is a debate she has presumably been preparing for for WEEKS. Plus, she had her NOTES in front of her. If she insists on not meeting with the legitimate media, then debates are the ONLY time you'll see Jan Brewer's live, unscripted responses to real questions. Instead, Brewer will continue to run to Fox News for cover. Shameful.

For the record, I happen to SUPPORT SB1070. But there are a million other issues that need a governor's intelligent attention, and Arizona NEEDS someone with more upstairs than Jan Brewer.

The amazing thing is that people are focusing on this inability to read prepared remarks(it's harder when you didn't write them) and not on the fact that she LIED about balancing the budget and refused to answer questions about her LIE about decapitated bodies in the Arizona desert which provided much of the hysteria to get her anti-immigrant bill passed...Has anyone noticed how similar her persona is to Sharon Angle of Nevada?

Wow! She is really something else. I don't understand how some people can still support Brewer. It is very clear that the great state of Arizona has been hurt by the weak economy. But Brewer has done nothing to improve it, instead we lost billions this year thanks to her. She even cancel the annual meeting with other governors to share ideas on helping all states involved. Kpho channel 5 started to investigate the governor regarding her conflict of interest by signing sb1070. In returned Brewers campaing company pulled all their $$$ advertisement from that network. So much for free press in this country. I don't even want to get started on her allowing any idiot to "conceal" a deadly weapon!! Just think of getting behind the wheel without knowing how to drive or learning the rules and laws.

If there were any doubts as to how many debates Arizonans can expect to see between Jan Brewer and Terry Goddard, last night's debate made it clear. There will be only one. Even if you disregard her stumbling, bumbling start, she appeared to almost panic at times and talk in coherent circles when confronted by Goddard on past statements and decisions. If Brewer's campaign advisors are smart, they will not allow her to participate in any future debates.
